Dont try to change their minds. They are as thick as the Great Wall of China. They scream how people are going to hell while they sit on their couch and do nothing useful with their lives. If they actually followed the bible they would be volunteering at a soup kitchen or a food bank or some other charity.

I'm not saying I never sinned before I was saved. The passage you quoted shows us why everyone needs a Saviour. We're all vile sinners from birth. However, if I were to sin wilfully now, I would be lost.

I'dlike to point something out, that may be obvious. Rape is a crime, Law=Above the bible. The reason for this is: People like Cranky Old Man

Throwing a moose out of a plane is also a crime. Just because it is a law doesn't mean it makes any sense. Men create the law, which means laws can be imperfect. Only God's Law makes sense.

Morals don't lead to a perfect world. They aren't enforced, yet by fear of a god. What happens when people lose fear of God? Anarchy ensues.( which, by the way read the manuscript-Its the perfect government yet not performable by humans due to our basic flaws )

Thank you so much Cranky. My husband showed me this thread while I was making sandwiches for my 7-year-old twins, Elizabeth and Mary. (I was showing them how to use all the appliances that day, but they were being good children and studying the bible at the time). I firmly believe in EVERYTHING you say in this and would definitely be willing to be sold out, as long as it meant my husband and the lord remaining happy.

Dear Sister Basilissa, don't let the guy in the funny hat trouble you. Jews seems to think that they own the Bible or something.

Many years ago, I was discussing that very same story with a Bible-believing woman who pointed out "She didn't cry out! She didn't cry out!". She said it twice, just like that. Of course, she was making reference to Deuteronomy 22, which shows how well-versed she was regarding her verses.


At the time, God was still working His Way with me and I found myself questioning why an omniscient deity wouldn't know that rapists sometimes cover their victim's mouths, but thanks to prayer, I've found the kind of peace that doesn't bother with those concerns.


Anyway, we mustn't distract seekers from the answers at hand in this thread (as seen in the Bible!) but I would like to leave you with this piece of advice. If you ever have a daughter, don't name her Tamar. Things don't go well for Tamars in the Bible.

This is anything but a heartwarming story. It would take much time and space to explain the story in light of Judaic tradition and what this story teaches us, so I encourage you to do some research on what Rabbis have written. For me to post about it here would only fall on deaf ears but you seem to be one who is educated and interested in the truth of the matter - most of the time.
