None of this makes any sense. First off, I do not think that abortion is right. However, that is not the point I am trying to make. My point is... if it is unchristian of a person to rape someone (because I mean, hello, they are stealing a virginity gift from God) then how is it the woman's fault? God tells us to kill the rapist (and often the recipient of the rape) in most circumstances. Again you should read your Bible.

However, women whose circumstances mean they should not be summarily killed for committing (let's not forget) an act of adultery and who find themselves properly married to the man who sullied them and besmirched the honour of her father ought to realise that God is still blessing them with a child who, if they are lucky, will be a son. With the constant lesson of this dirty conception as a goad that son may grow up to properly approach a father in the right way instead of being impatient and greedy.

Rape in times of war is to be expected and encouraged, of course. In that instance the father is usually dead or dispossessed so it's hardly fair to leave an unattached maiden to make her own mind up.

Thank you! You are the first person who is actually trying to help me understand. I really appreciate it. The child being born is a marvelous gift! I do agree! I agree even more when you say that "If He does not, it means He wants the woman to bear that child." However, could you please help me understand why some people on here make rape seem like it's the woman's fault, or etc. I mean sometimes it is the woman's fault, but it's not all the time like people are making it seem. Why do some people make rape seem like... a light hearted situation? I really don't understand. Thank you so much for you competence though! There is a case where its not, I agree. And the Bible lays that out for us:

Deuteronomy 22:25-27

25But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die:
26But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; [there is] in the damsel no sin [worthy] of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so [is] this matter:
27For he found her in the field, [and] the betrothed damsel cried, and [there was] none to save her.

That is to say, if an engaged girl is raped in a field then its not her fault.

If an engaged girl is raped in the city, though, she is put to death along with her rapist. (There's a long discussion elsewhere about rape of unengaged girls and I won't retread that ground.)

Why's that? Why put her to death? Well Deuteronomy 22:24 tells us:

24Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, [being] in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.

In short, being in the city someone would have heard her if she'd shouted out. Therefore she didn't, therefore she didn't want it to stop, therefore slut. With me?

I'm not saying we should follow the Muslims at all, but think of their burkas. How often do you imagine they get raped? Not at all - there's nothing there to inflame lust. But if I go teetering down the street on six inch heels and a two inch skirt then I'm making myself a sex object and I really can't complain all that loudly when I'm treated as such can I.
