Transcendental Argument for the Existence of God

    Van Til:

We must point out to [our opponents] that [non-theistic] reasoning itself leads to self-contradiction, not only from a theistic point of view, but from a non-theistic point of view as well... It is this that we ought to mean when we say that we reason from the impossibility of the contrary. The contrary is impossible only if it is self-contradictory when operating on the basis of its own assumptions.

So Van Til tells you not to use non-theistic reasoning... yet you've being doing that to deny Godly Freewill! And assuming that you do not believe that this Van Til fellow is a god - and I'll put nothing past your heresy, you listen to this bit of his non-theistic reasoning, which, as he says, leads to contradiction?

Son, have you sought treatment through prayer from a Baptist Pastor? You have demons of confusion of the brain.

Re: Transcendental Argument for the Existence of God

I recently was forced to defend myself from an atheist attack only a day or two ago. I was testifying in the red light district, when an atheist stopped and confronted me. The conversation went a little like this.
      Atheist: God doesn't exist
me: *angry* of course God exists
      Atheist: how do you know?
me: have the Bible and I have faith
Atheist: Does the Bible prove God exists?
me: of course. It was written by God
      Atheist: Do you have faith?
me: of course I have faith, for without faith we are without God.
Atheist: So without faith, God cannot exist? Then if the bible proves the existence of God, God couldnt have written it, as it removes the need for faith by proving God exists. God would never have created something that denies his existence. What would be the point of that? So by SAYING God exists in the bible, it actually proves he DOESN'T EXIST
Me: I have a Glock 9mm and a full magazine
Atheist: I have to go now.
Me: yep you better go RIGHT NOW.

      Another victory for Jesus. Praise!
The devil, whose business is to pervert the truth, mimics the exact circumstance of the Divine Sacraments. He baptises his believers and promises forgiveness of sins...he celebrates the oblation of bread, and brings in the symbol of the resurrection. Let us therefore acknowledge the craftiness of the devil, who copied certain things of those that be divine."

        God approves of Might.

It always bothers me that atheists seem to never ask themselves why anyone would write the Bible if there were no God.

If it were an elaborate practical joke, then surely someone would have seen through it by now and disproved God’s existence? But no, they haven’t.

It being such a Good Book, such an authority, such a depiction of Mankind’s lot, the Bible appears as the distilled wisdom of the Greatest Minds – yet deeds that are impossible for man are witnessed therein; yet geniuses recorded these things!

They would have to know that unless the story of God were true, they would be looked upon as idiots, which they were clearly not.

If these sages of old knew it was true, why is there any difficulty accepting The Bible as True today and thus that there is a God?

            What is a "Van Til?"

And when is this God mocker going to learn how to make his own arguments rather than cut and paste, stealing from other false Christian and atheistic websites?

I think it means plowing the land with vans. Futile, if you ask me.
