i dont understand this. i have heard too many preachers say to repeat there prayer and be saved. i dont think it works that way. to believe that you can repeat someone elses pryer and be saved, you would have to believe that that person can save you. only god can do that. im sure that god would much rather hear a prayer that comes from your own heart.

First, let me say that what you are “sure” of is irrelevant – we cannot second-guess The Lord of Hosts.Originally posted by boondox View Posti dont understand this. i have heard too many preachers say to repeat there prayer and be saved. i dont think it works that way. to believe that you can repeat someone elses pryer and be saved, you would have to believe that that person can save you. only god can do that. im sure that god would much rather hear a prayer that comes from your own heart.
Now, imagine you go to a government office to get a subsidy to feed your hogs – you have to make application on the correct form. On some other things, a letter might be enough as long as it has enough detail. So it is with a prayer for Salvation.
I suggest you look how and why His Disciples were chosen, what they and Jesus said at the time the Holy Spirit descended upon them, how they spent their lives thereafter, and so on and so forth. Also pay attention to such verses as
John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
or
Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
or
James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
or
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
See it is complicated; you have to ask yourself, would a Pastor help? Here at Landover, he certainly would.

Re: "repeat this prayer after me and you will be saved"
Of course there's more to it than just mindlessly repeating a prayer. That's the fourth step in the plan of salvation. There's three other steps you have to do first, or the prayer doesn't mean anything.Originally posted by boondox View Posti dont understand this. i have heard too many preachers say to repeat there prayer and be saved. i dont think it works that way. to believe that you can repeat someone elses pryer and be saved, you would have to believe that that person can save you. only god can do that. im sure that god would much rather hear a prayer that comes from your own heart.
Pastor Billy-ReubenUpon request I will cite scripture for all these facts in God's Holy Word.
✝ This is a Christian community and we worship GOD of the Holy bible, the only Living GOD. We worship Jesus Christ, Son of GOD and Savior. Anything else is absurd. ✝

Re: "repeat this prayer after me and you will be saved"
hmm... i think if you understand the prayer and agree with what it says it would work. But if you were atheist and said it... chances are it would be more mockery than praise. So fair enough when he said repeat this prayer and be saved it could be taken as a false claim but then he's obviously only aiming it at like-minded peeps.um... have to change my signature... can't think of anything to put... oh well...

The minds of atheists are not grounded in reality. That's why they are almost all liberal arts majors. They go around worshiping trees, crystals, bowls of spaghetti, invisible unicorns...the whole idea of praying to an imaginary God is just appalling! People like that need to be killed.Originally posted by Just Ralph View PostWhy would an atheist be saying a prayer?
