    Question

If you've recently been in the introduction forum you would have noticed that I am only new to your beliefs. For the last few days I've read over your rules, doctrines and random posts to try and familiarize myself with the LCB. I've a question though.

If you are required to obey secular law why is 'beating' as punishment and as a means of instilling wrong tolerated? This could be considered abuse which is, by secular law, illegal.

Can someone clear this up for me?

    Cheers,
    Blake.

Well, beating is in the eye of the beholder, isn't it. Dealing out Christian Discipline is not against any laws that I know of. Our local laws around Freehold are more Biblically oriented than most localities. And True Christian(tm) ladies have better sense than to call in the law. They were raised right. They know their place.

Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:

It is tolerated because the conviction rate for corporal punishment is very low. A Godly man is wise in the ways of administering correction, and will always do so with guidance of the Holy Spirit to within the upper limit of the law in their particular jurisdiction.

The rule of thumb is that it is an action is not illegal if there is not an actual conviction resulting from said action. That is why God encourages to be wise and to study the law of the Word and of the world.
      2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Here are 3 Bible verses for you:

Titus 3:1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

1Co:6:12: All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Paul speaks to Titus here of the principle of obedience to authority that he should teach his flock - Titus would not have needed guidance had he been as wise as Paul.

Peter uses “ought” to indicate where there is a choice, the higher authority is to be obeyed

Paul, in Corinthians, now speaks as one of the wisest men in Christendom (see above) and speaks for himself. He is fine judge of moral behavior and is therefore correct.

So, we now see that True Christians™, as always and by following God’s Law, are correct and, as usual, your assumptions are based on foolishness.

I can see where no laws of men can ever usurp the laws of God.

Ephesians 5:22: Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Ephesians 5: 23: For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.

Ephesians 5:24: Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
38 John said to him, "Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us."
39 Jesus replied, "Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me.

              Re: Question

Hmmm. I am completely unsure of how to take this. While I understand that it such a form of punishment is condoned by your members, church ethic and God; it is beliefs like that which make me slightly unsure of religion.

While I was looking to be 'saved' and committing myself to this church I find it rather alarming to read threads re: subduing women and children.

I've another related topic, is aggressive styles of punishment necessary to make your women and children obey? In my life I've not known of any such form of instilling obedience, yet I find among family and friends that women and children are keen to obey their husbands/fathers.

Please, there is no need to start 'flaming' me or presenting me with 'infractions' I am only curious and mean no disrespect, also religious verse means minimal to me.

That is why we True Christians™ have an extended courtship tradition. If a woman is uppity and prone to sass, she may not be a suitable wife for any True Christian™ man.

The only True Christian™ wives that I know of who are in need of much corrective discipline are a bit on the dim side. And their husbands, who I will not name as I am discrete and don't like to embarrass my Brothers and Sisters in Christ, are doing them a great service in teaching them to be better Christians.

If you see teaching a woman who is not smart enough to listen to reason with physical reinforcement as wrong, then you may not be cut out to be Saved.

I believe if a woman is not smart enough to listen to reason she doesn't deserve to be in my life. I come from a certain caliber of social class, I expect any girl I get with, regardless of time period, to also be from that social class. I make a point of not mixing with those who would require physical reprimands to listen to reason. If I meet a girl who fails to meet my standards, then I reciprocate by failing to continue the relationship. It's as simple as that.

I think you are being a bit harsh. Being all women are fairly empty headed compared to a man, you may never find a woman to bear Christian Soldiers© for God.

Your social class seems to be on the 'nouveau' side from how you speak. I have met many a lady from a proper upbringing who was worthless gutter trash and quite a few from 'the wrong side of the tracks' who were fine ladies. Racism? Perhaps discrimination? I admit I do have discriminatory tastes; however, I consider myself open-minded. I am accepting and tolerant. However, how does this reflect into your beliefs? You are staunchly opposed to black people, from what I can see Asians and homosexuals. If my standards of women is " racist and not tolerated on god's favorite forum" then how are your cultural and ethnic intolerance justified? Or is it condoned by the Bible?
