Okay Sister, let me come to terms with the definitions. Instead of an atheist, call me a Christian who supports modern science and rejects the supernatural parts of Christianity as found in the Bible; who interprets things like the creation story, Adam and Eve, Jonah and the Whale, Noah's Ark as stories; and the miracles and resurrections of dead people as symbolic.

I believe the miracles were metaphor, and the resurrection was in the spirit; and that it is biologically impossible for a dead body to regenerate.

So let us say that I believe it all, but in symbolism.

I will say that certainly when I am up there at that altar giving the Chalice during Holy Communion, I can feel the Holy Spirit moving inside me; in fact I become transparent, a mere vessel for the offering of the sacraments. I believe that God called me to the Episcopal Church.

Be sure of this... Until you embrace the Bible and therefore Jesus, I will never call you a Christian. A false Christian, sure, but that's about it.

Here's another short story in my life, Sister. A close family member of mine happens to be a Baptist. She belongs to a Bible-believing Baptist Church in the midwest.

They believe Christianity exactly like you people at Landover, identical. This is a big reason I joined your forum, to try to understand why she believes this way.

She knows what church I belong to and what I do there, and is not impressed. In fact, she believes that I will burn in hell when I die. For real. She has rejected me and our family ties, and we rarely speak.

Her church pastors have told her that God will remove all memory in heaven of the loved one who goes to hell, therefore it is to no purpose to know me any longer in this life.

But I cannot accept any belief in this world that is so backward as to reject modern science. I can't accept stories of the Bible that are obviously folklore and written before a knowledge of science today. I am too intelligent for that. I don't believe in hell and I don't believe I am going there. Nobody is going there. It's a myth.

So you can see the problems I am facing because of our different interpretations of the scripture.

Some of my replies on this board are according to my church doctrine, and others are my own personal belief or opinion. By atheist I should clarify that I believe in God and the Holy Spirit, but not the Bible.

So you believe in God and the Holy Spirit - WHICH IS FOUND IN THE BIBLE. But not the Bible?
And you call the Bible (the other parts obviously) poetry, metaphors, "thoughts about God" and what not!
Seriously, you do realize how stupid and contradictonary doing like you do is right?
And didn't you say that you are logical?

As we keep saying, you simply PICK AND CHOOSE what to believe:
You approach the Bible (because you do believe in parts of it!) as a salad bar, where you take the parts you want, and leave the rest.

Hmm, that sounds like a false teaching to me. Our reading of scripture is the Elect will feast in Heaven and watch the damn burn in Hell. I am so looking forward to seeing my Mary Worship parents and my Joo fornicating atheist sister suffer for eternity.

Frankly cutting you off doesn't sound very proper too. I constantly attempt to help my hell bound family see THE TRUTH™ but they just scream at me to shut up. What about your parishioners? Are they all atheists as well, or are they semi-false "christians" who actually believe in Jesus, so you feed them their death cookies while thinking "LOL! Do you believe He had anything to do with the Creation at all, cause if so, why couldn't He raise the dead if He can create life where there previously was none?

The resurrection of Christ! As without it, the faith in Christ is in vain!
