Why are you so preoccupied with sin? It's so grubby that it's practically unhealthy. Instead of sermons about how sinful we all are you should try looking at the beauty of the night sky or a hundred other things our universe has to offer.

I certainly don't need the moral standards set out in the bible - it's an ethical disaster area. I go by the moral standards that come from within.


Love of the world, motivation, willpower, etc, come from within. Religion teaches you to be helpless before an imaginary god or more to the point, before men who use religion to control you.

Why learn to be helpless? Those are the actions of someone who's beaten.

I can be happy by smiling and enjoying my life. Religion is completely incidental to that. I set my own standards of behaviour and I look to myself to ensure I observe them.

Learn to rely on yourself, not some imaginary sky pixie. Realise that you are what you are because of how you want yourself to be and not some pobsessed pastor or mad mullah.

Do that and you'll become aware that others are like you and you can happily accept them the way they are and not the way that you'd like them to be.

Khatru, nearly all of modern morality that claims to be unassociated with religion is derived directly from the Bible. Most of your "moral code" is just a stripped-down version of that given in the Bible.

No friend, what you actually mean is that you want us to think what you think, not that we think "for ourselves".

You can come in here with preconceived ideas and talk patronizing rubbish, but it'll convince no one. We do think for ourselves and that's exactly why we reach such conclusions that are both morally and intellectually of the highest possible standards.
