Actually, Jo Freddie (indirectly) brings up a good point. I read a philosophy book awhile back about the nature of evil and how humanity's perception of evil has changed over the years. For example, whereas in the past a place has been associated with evil (Lisbon, Auschwitz, Pearl Harbor, Golgotha, etc.) with 9/11 happening we associate evil with a time something which makes it very unsettling because it allows for people to play on the horrors and fears of that day instead of allowing them some recluse in not necessarily remembering it.

Well I'm certainly glad 9/11 is over and I can continue talking regularly now. I'm happy to report that in recognition of those who lost their lives in the Twin Towers on that fateful day and all of our men and women that served in Iraq and Afghanistan I managed to make it for a full 24 hours only saying the word "9/11." In a small way this radio broadcaster was able to understand the loss and hardship that those brave people suffered as a result of terrorism as I attempted to order a KFC Double Down only using the word "9/11" in a drive through. After nearly half an hour the line of cars behind me was wrapping around the fast food franchise and the manager had to come outside so I could point at the picture menu and show him what I wanted. Never forget.

My decision to only say "9/11" yesterday hit another rough patch as I witnessed a horrific traffic accident while enjoying my KFC Double Down in the car. I called 9-1-1 but had trouble directing rescue officials to the scene of the accident only using the words "nine" and "eleven," but am happy to report that even in the heat of that terrible moment I never slipped up.

If anything, Sept. 11 is a day to remember the victims of terror, all victims of terror, and to work for peace, like the group September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows. Formed by those who lost loved ones on 9/11/2001, their mission could serve as a national call to action: “To turn our grief into action for peace. By developing and advocating nonviolent options and actions in the pursuit of justice, we hope to break the cycles of violence engendered by war and terrorism. Acknowledging our common experience with all people affected by violence throughout the world, we work to create a safer and more peaceful world for everyone.”

Why do you hate America, Jo Freddie? 9/11 is a day for the entire world to dwell on the tragic deaths of 3,000 New Yorkers and over 100 Pentagon officials when the evilest event in history befell God's Favorite Country(tm). On 9/11, everyone on the planet is either with us or against us. You should at least pretend like you want to be an American. To do anything else is just rude and insensitive.

While the events in New York on September the 11th 2001 are indeed horrific and not to be forgotten, let us also remember the consequences of just one of the other 9/11's I mentioned

Sept. 11, 1973, Chile: Democratically elected President Salvadore Allende died in a CIA-backed military coup that ushered in a reign of terror under dictator Augusto Pinochet, in which thousands of Chileans were killed.

According to various reports and investigations 1,200–3,200 people were killed, 80,000 were interned, and up to 30,000 were tortured by his regime including women and children.

The one good thing about 9/11 is that it postponed the Emmy awards and showed how the entertainment industry's only real purpose is to bash Great Leaders like GWB and mock our True American Values. When the tragedy made that unfashionable, suddenly they had nothing funny to say.

It also provided the Great and Nearly Infalliable GWB a chance to shape up the Constitution by passing the Patriot Act. "The Patriot Act"-- just the words send a shiver down my spine. Is there any one act more patriotic than passing the Patriot Act?

America has been a safer, better place since then. Therefore, we KNOW it had God's direct blessing.

If only homosexuals weren't such sissies determined to fight out their battles in various court cases. If they really took active action, then the average person would see the danger they pose and we could pass The Pansy Act, legislating them to a nice island surrounded by barbed wire.

I make no attempt to minimise your grief, I just point out that other have suffered for acts of terror and the cost has been just as great.

Who cares is everyone in Chile dies? What did Chile ever do that was important? Make tacos? 9/11 is a real tragedy, because it happened to real people.

That attitude does nothing but perpetuate the feelings of distrust and loathing that many around the world have for your country and make it very difficult for the world to move towards peaceful acceptance of each other, but that may be you goal.
