We have a puppy here that I have been hand feeding and it looks like he will be OK.

I am considering naming him Pastor Deacon Fred. Would this be considered offensive?

I think naming a puppy 'Pastor Deacon anyone' would be offensive. Pastor is an honorary title, and naming a puppy thus would be awkward since a puppy cannot fulfill pastoral duties and has nothing to do with your personal salvation. Pick something else.

I would dare to say that in spite of the fact that your intents are flattering, that it might be a bit offensive to those that have devoted their life to teaching righteousness. These men have worked hard to earn their position, and to designate a pet with the title that they earned is distasteful in my opinion. I don't believe that a pastor oughta share his title with a common household pet. I would suggest not naming your pet such a thing. Even Deacon is pushing it, because deacons also work hard for their appointments. Just call him Fred, Spot, Fido, or something like that.
