Long since the days - An original Jim C.L. song.

This is a new song I wrote last night, it's been something working through my head for a while, and now I've finally put it to paper. It tells the tale of a time I was very lost and confused and did a lot of bad things, before I knew Jesus wanted me to clean up, and come to Landover Baptist, His Favourite Church. I hope it touches you all, and you understand the dark depths one can go through before they see the Light of God. It's inspired by the same Christian Gospel style made popular by The Hoppers, so it's meant to sung as an extended round in a circle, with the chorus repeated over and over.

I was a lad when I left home, Out on a quest, just me alone.
Pa and I rowed 'fore, I felt wise,
My trouble mind so filled with lies.

Plowing to the city, nowhere to go,
Nowhere to lay and call my place,
I turned to a crowd for extra dough,
and that was when I fell from grace...

...There was no escape from the pit I had dug,
in my despair I had turned to drug,
I sank deeper in my own sullen pit,
I curled up like a baby and said, "this is it!"

Oh, I collapsed on the curb of the 24-hr mart,
Some old gent came and said, "Hello I'm Bart!"
He said, "My, good sir, you don't look too swell....
Meet my friend, Jesus, He will make you well!"

(chorus) Long since the days I was a cheap lil' wussy,
My fingers with the stank of coke and pussy, Kneelin' deep in my vomit, I puked up a hoard,
But now I knee only for my Looooooorrrrrddd....ooooh.
Once I was blind but now I see,
that Jesus can love a wretch like me.
He showed me the errors of my youth,
He showers me with His seeds of Truth.

Well I got cleaned up and went to church,
A real holy cleanse through a spiritual birth,
I'm glad I've got off the habit like a old cactus,
and took my sore butt down to Landover Baptist!

Long since the days I was a sad ol' punk,
My body with the stench of meth and junk, Bending o'er backwards for a daily fix,

but now I bend for God to end the Devil's tricks!
Once I was cold, but now I feel,
that Salvation is more than just a free meal,
Once I sinned, but now I'm free,
Jesus has promised me an Eternity ....eeeeeeeee.

Now you're probably wondering what's gone on since,
Since ditching the life I had came from whence,
No longer am I tweaking and feeling all nervous,
Now I hand out the phamlets at Sunday service!

Long since the days I was a creep and a druggie,
Picking up whores in my Pa's stolen buggie,
On a one-way trip to a veneral disease,
Now Jesus is the only One I want to pleasssssseeee.
You'd never guess about my ways of sin,
For I've come to the Lord for a second win,
The Word of God is all that beckons,
Jesus is coming, and I want seconds!

Wow Jim, you give a very selfless, unpretentious, and gut-retching account of your personal journey that is almost difficult to swallow. I applaud your courage to write this song. There's a grittiness to it that moves me, and I'm happy Jesus has come deep in you to feel His Love, and inspire you. Keep it up!

Well done Mr Lombardo! You have another hit on your hands. Another story of how Christ's servants found you when you were at your point of least resistance and gave the almost unbelievable story of one half-man, half-god's journey to the grave and beyond and how that event in a distant land under foreign occupation over 2000 years ago is as real today as it was then.

We are fortunate indeed that your sordid life of filth and squalor was changed in the way it was. I'm sure that you, by your small but significant contribution, have saved many souls from that road-trip to Hell.

        Bless, Brother Bathfire,

I should make it no secret, but I do try to outdo those talentless hacks at Westboro Baptist, and their two-bit parodies of classic songs. At least my work is mostly original and I create my own melodies.
