    Updated Hymns

Now that I've gone through the Bible, I thought I'd take a look at some of our favorite hymns. They get sung so often we often forget what they are really saying, so I've reworded this hymn in easier to understand terms. Just like Bible translations after KJV, it is not accurate and should not replace the original, but it is a bit thought-provoking, imho. Here's the original: http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/b/h/bhymnotr.htm

Battle Hymn of the Republic (aka "Glory, Glory, Hallelujah)

I have had a psychic vision of when God is going to physically come to the earth
Just like trampling grapes to make wine, he will trample when he shows the wrath he has stored up
Using his terrible fast sword, he will shoot lightning at people
    His truth is marching on!
Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah! Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah!
Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah! His truth is marching on!

God lives in the campfires of soldiers
Soldiers pray to him at night outside
They can read the Bible by their dim lamps
    His day is marching on!
Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah! Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah!
Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah! His day is marching on!

I have read the fiery good news carved into shiny metal
Being cruel to evil people is wrong, and if you do so Jesus will be cruel to you
So let the hero, who is God the Father begotten to a virgin in the form of the Son by the power of the Holy Spirit (which is the same as the other two), step on the head of the evil talking snake he created in the first place
    Since God is marching on!
Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah! Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah!
Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah! Since God is marching on!

He has blown the trumpet that signals his army to start a never-ending battle
He is trying to figure out whether the immortal souls of the dead who have floated up to His Kingdom were good enough to be allowed in
I hope the invisible spirit inside me answers God quickly, I hope my feet are happy
    Our God is marching on!
Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah! Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah!
Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah! Our God is marching on!

Christ was born amidst pretty flowers in the Middle-East
Inside his chest was glory that transform people
And in the same way He allowed himself to be killed so that His Father, who is Himself, would not have to kill those select few He loves, let us die so that slavery can be abolished
    While God is marching on!
Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah! Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah!
Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah! While God is marching on!

When he comes it will be as pretty as the morning on the wave
He is the only source of wisdom and honor
He will use the planet earth as his footstool, and after abolishing slavery make slaves out of the souls of the evil
    Our God is marching on!
Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah! Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah!
Magnificent, magnificent, praise Jehovah! Our God is marching on!

I'm sure that after reading that many Christians will appreciate the true glory of that fine hymn!

      Read here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bat...f_the_Republic
for a history of this hymn. It does bring home God's Glory, but I do find it a bit disturbing that it was written to also Glorify the Yankee invaders during the War of Northern Aggression. The lyrics were softened a bit in the years after the Cause.

      Yours in Christ

In the Beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth. Genesis 1.1. This scripture is the first verse of the Bible for a reason. It lays the foundation for the absolute truth found in God's Holy WORD, the Bible.
