  • A short hymnal poem in the romantic style

    Christian Pub Call

    Like rubies through the firmament
    Christ's dark arterial blood
    sprayed forth in a sacrament
    'pon mankind's common mud.

    His mortal ribs and liver,
    pierced sore by Roman iron,
    were lifted up forever.
O praise Thee, son of Zion!

    O strange and holy Trinity!
    How blood-drenched and austere!
    Through Thee we glimpse infinity,
and then call for more beer.
