As any Real American knows, suicidal shooting sprees are the result of gun control. In a well-armed nation, a suicidal maniac might manage to shoot one or two people, but he would be shot by an armed law abiding citizen. Problem solved.
Not only does gun control make it easy for suicidal maniacs to shoot up their schools and workplaces, it also makes it easier for tyrants to oppress and massacre their unarmed populations.
The massacre at Fort Hood, Texas, gives us yet another example of this fact, and brings up another point: the Second Amendment gives us the right to bear ARMS, not just guns. Texas is the most heavily gunned place on the planet. The only place with more guns than a typical town in Texas is a typical military base in Texas. But in both cases, the main armament is mere M16s.
Puny little M16s are not enough to keep maniacs and tyrants at bay. The Fort Hood massacre proves it. If the soldiers at Fort Hood had access to some real firepower, things could have been different.
You have to think of the psychology of suicidal maniacs - shooting them isn't much of a deterrence, since they want to die. What would really deter them is the thought of their home town with all their loved ones being bombed into the stone age by the Air Force. It kept the Soviets in line, and they were crazy.
Just think of Stalin: one of his first victims was the Red Army, which he purged in the late 1930's. Now, the Red Army had guns. Lots of guns. However the Red Army did not have ARMS, that is, nuclear arms. Notice that by 1949, when the Red Army had nukes, Stalin didn't dare purge them. Nobody has purged the Red Army ever since.
This pea-shooter has only two crew members because the rest of them got purged.
