  • School Prayer Would Have Prevented Colorado Theater Massacre

I can't imagine why anyone is surprised that some unpatriotic, non-Christian kid who listens to techno music shot up a crowded theater. I really can't. I look around me, and all I see are ongoing attacks against the Judeo-Christian values on which our Christian Nation was founded, and then some senseless act of terror like this takes place. Is anyone really surprised by this?

Some of us happen to believe that when our Evangelical Founders talked about guarding our virtue and freedom, we should have kept listening. John Adams said our Constitution was intended only for moral and religious people. Benjamin Franklin said that only virtuous people are capable of freedom, and that as nations become corrupt and vicious, they become in need of masters. The American People have been at war with the very pillars, the very foundation of this country. Is it any surprise that the LORD might lift His hand of protection, to let us know that He is displeased with prayer being taken out of school and replaced with the false doctrine of evilution?

    Lamentations 2:3
He hath cut off in his fierce anger all the horn of Israel: he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire, which devoureth round about.

As a nation, we've threatened high school graduation ceremonies. If they invoke God's mighty name or say a prayer, they're going to be jailed - blatantly persecuted for their cherished beliefs. It's like the lions in the Colosseum all over again! People keep casting God to the sidelines, and what do they expect to happen? For my part, I like His hand of protection being present.
    II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

I was homeschooled until I got married to Aaron. My Mom used to have me pray everyday and now Aaron does. I've never even thought about killing people at a theater. So everybody should be homeschooled until they're 14 and then they should get married.
Aaron said I should have this for my signature to remind me how to be a good wife.

The only long term solution is, of course, to reinstate prayer in schools. However while Obama is destroying America and attacking the 2nd Amendment a practical alternative NOW is to carry a gun yourself any time you go in a crowded public space.

May we be reminded, there were no school massacures at the time of our Christian founding fathers.

History helps the country understand the consequences of rejecting Jesus.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

An automatic firearm is a firearm that loads another round mechanically after the first round has been fired.
The term can be used to refer to semi-automatic firearms, which fire one shot per single pull of the trigger (like the .45 "automatic"), or fully automatic firearms, which will continue to load and fire ammunition...

Common mistake for people not familiar with weapons, Rev.

The AR-15 was introduced in 1963. The specific model of the Glock is not mentioned, but they didn't produce their first model (the Glock 17) until 1982.

You are absolutely correct, Reverend Rod, and all thinking True Christians have to ask themselves what has changed since those golden years. Of course, the banning of school prayer is one such issue, but it's more complicated than that. Look at all the other horrible things that have occurred in the past few decades, perpetrated by liberals:

                1) Legalized abortion. Ever since Roe vs Wade, it's been perfectly acceptable to murder babies, and it's just a short step from that to shooting up theaters. Anyone can see the connection! And don't get me started on birth control, which is just another name for "sperm genocide."

                2) Negro rights. Back in the 1950s, Negroes sat in the back of the bus, used separate-but-equal public restrooms, didn't vote unless they first passed a literacy test (in Chinese), etc. In other words, they knew their place. Now they are free to rape and listen to rap (rape) music. In view of all that, is it any wonder a frustrated white guy would go into a movie theater and shoot up the place? You can almost sympathize with him.

                3) Obama's birth certificate. First we "elect" a Marxist Negro president who is a citizen of Kenya. Then we learn about his terrorist connections to Islamic fundamentalist Bill Ayers and Iman Reverend Wright. Next, he uses Obamacare to murder senior citizens. Last but not least, Obama is forcing all Americans into mandatory gay marriage. In view of all that, it's amazing we aren't seeing mass shootings every day!

                More deadly than theater shootings!

                4) Occupy Wall Street. When you've got communists marching through the streets attacking the job creators, you know that our once-great nation is rotting at the core.

The answer to all of the above social ills is obvious. Yes, by all means, bring back school prayer, but the best way to do that is close all public schools and do either home schooling or privatized Christian schools. And more tax cuts for the rich are needed, so as to shower our young people with wealth that will trickle-down from the job creators! And the so-called "Occupy" protesters need to be machine-gunned in the streets. It's a divine solution that all True Christians can understand.
                Praise Jesus!

The only one I see redefining words is you, going from "automatic weapons" to "well, that means semi-automatic too".

Fact is, this punk walked through the theater firing single shots, and even stopped to reload, and not one of the atheists, Jews, Muslims, or Catholics in the theater had the testicular fortitude to tackle him. Even from behind.

If there were True Christians(tm) there, you can bet he'd have been on the floor face-down with half a dozen men on top of him!

I trust you will enjoy this article about the recent shootings in Colorado as much as I did.
                        ----
                        A Dark Night Indeed
-Jerry Newcombe, Truth in Action Ministries

Another senseless act of random violence in America has made the headlines. This time there was a random shooting in a movie theatre, during the opening night of The Dark Knight Rises. This was the midnight showing in Aurora, Colorado, just outside of Denver.
As of this writing, 12 people are reported to be dead, and 38 injured. The alleged shooter was a 24-year-old white male, who was wearing a bulletproof vest and a gas mask. He reportedly acted alone, using tear gas, and firing three guns.

How do we make sense out of this kind of thing? Why do things like this happen?

I can't help but feel that to some extent, we're reaping what we've been sowing as a society. We said to God, "Get out of the public arena." Lawsuit after lawsuit, often by misguided "civil libertarians," have chased away any fear of God in the land -- at least in the hearts of millions.

The shooting was like a scene out of a scary movie. One witness said: "It was very hard to breathe. I told my brother to take cover. It took a while. I started seeing flashes and screaming, I just saw blood and people yelling and a quick glimpse of the guy who had a gas mask on. I was pushed out. There was chaos, we started running." (ABC News, 7/20/12).

Recently, I wrote on the subject of Hell and how our society has generally lost its cognizance of it.

We've lost this cognizance to the point that a recent bestseller was a book by an "evangelical pastor," who for all practical purposes denied Hell (or the import of it). (It exists, but don't worry -- supposedly nobody's going there.) When the book was first published 16 months ago, it made the cover of TIME magazine. This month it was republished as a paperback.

This makes me think. "Wow, what the heck happened to Hell?" What -- was there some new revelation that changed what the Lord warned about? To me, what He said 2,000 years ago is still worth heeding: What does it profit you if you gain the whole world and lose your soul?

Tens of millions of young people in this culture seem to have no fear of God. It's becoming too commonplace that some frustrated person will go on a killing spree of random people. If they kill themselves, they think it's all over. But that's like going from the frying pan into the fire. Where's the fear of God in our society? I don't think people would do those sorts of things if they truly understood the reality of Hell.

I'll never forget what an Alabama black pastor said to me one time when I interviewed him about Judge Roy Moore, the Ten Commandments judge. He said: "All across America people should stand with Judge Moore about the Ten Commandments. Why? Because when they took prayer out of school, you didn't hear about kids killing each other, about them bringing dope to school, shooting the teachers, you didn't hear about that. You see what I'm saying? That's what's wrong. We need more God-fearing."

The founders gave us a system where voluntary God-fearing was the underpinning of civility in society. The more internal restraints people have, the less need they have for external restraints. (And the converse is true.) That's why I can't understand the ongoing crusade of those who want to remove any vestige of Judeo-Christian in the public arena. All they're doing is making everything worse for everyone else.

Religion and morality were key to the founders' vision for a civil society. In his Farewell Address, George Washington highlighted the source of morality: "Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle." Will somebody please tell that to these civil libertarian lawyers always suing against public displays or the Ten Commandments and the like?

In America's early years, a "future state of rewards and punishment" was an important concept. For example:
                        - In 1786, founding father Benjamin Rush wrote: "Such is my veneration for every religion that reveals the attributes of the Deity, or a future state of rewards and punishments...."

                        - Noah Webster's first Dictionary (1828) had many Bible verses. He said one aspect of "Religion" includes "a belief in a state of rewards and punishment, and in man's accountableness to God ...."

                        - The Constitution of the State of Maryland, adopted in 1864, required political officials to hold to a belief "in a future state of rewards and punishments." The same held for South Carolina's 1778 constitution, as did Tennessee's constitution of 1796.

                        - The Pennsylvania Supreme Court stated in 1817: "Laws cannot be administered in any civilized government unless the people are taught to revere the sanctity of an oath, and look to a future state of rewards and punishments for the deeds of this life."
In short, Hell was viewed as a part of divine accountability.

When Osama bin Laden was finally killed in May 2011, a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released shortly after found that 61 percent of the public thought he went to Hell, thus showing that a lot of Americans still believe in Hell.

I know in my natural state I am worthy of Hell before a holy God, who doesn't grade on the curve. I am eternally grateful that on the cross Jesus went to Hell for me, so I don't have to. The next time someone wants to take out their frustrations on others by killing innocent victims, they ought to consider the eternal consequences of their evil actions.
Later, on American Family Radio, Brother Newcombe went on to assure the families of the victims that as long as they were Christian, they are in Heaven. But if not, they are now just beginning an eternity of unfathomable torments in the fiery pits of hell!

And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Amen, Brother Jed, it's a win-win for Jesus. I'd also like to point out that the theater where this happened is a competitor to my company's chain of multiplexes and our national DVD rental monopoly, so there's actually a win-win-win in there somewhere. Not that we would encourage anybody to literally blow away the competition - the fact that the nutcase was enrolled in my company's health insurance plan and was being fed Prozac and subliminal messages during a series of hearing and vision tests surely had nothing to do with his behavior.
