Bush administration agrees: licking ice cream is EVIL!

After 7 years and a price that I'm certain is very reasonable, The President's Council on Bioethics has completed its 555-page report, titled Human Dignity and Bioethics: Essays Commissioned by the President's Council on Bioethics.

It proves once and for all that stem-cell research, evolutionism, genetics, and other acts of BIG SCIENCE should be stopped, because they are undignified.

It is best summed up by a paragraph in Chapter 12, which states that with science, "We might get better children...We might perform better in the activities of life...We might get longer lives...We might get to be “happy,”, but" having children with longer, happier lives is bad, because it's undignified.

Some highlights:

There is a "mortal danger," in the notion "that a person has a right over his body, a right that allows him to do whatever he wants to do with it."

Worst of all from this point of view are those more uncivilized forms of eating, like licking an ice cream cone--a catlike activity that has been made acceptable in informal America but that still offends those who know eating in public is offensive. ... Eating on the street--even when undertaken, say, because one is between appointments and has no other time to eat--displays [a] lack of self-control: It beckons enslavement to the belly. ... Lacking utensils for cutting and lifting to mouth, he will often be seen using his teeth for tearing off chewable portions, just like any animal. ... This doglike feeding, if one must engage in it, ought to be kept from public view, where, even if we feel no shame, others are compelled to witness our shameful behavior.

"The desire to prolong youthfulness [is] an expression of a childish and narcissistic wish incompatible with devotion to posterity...would professional tennis players really enjoy playing 25 percent more games of tennis?" For empirical evidence that "mortality makes life matter," note that the Greek gods lived "shallow and frivolous lives".


Some other facts:

• Slavery and degradation are morally wrong because they take someone's dignity away.
• Nothing you can do to a person, including enslaving or degrading him, can take his dignity away.
• Dignity reflects excellence, striving, and conscience, so that only some people achieve it by dint of effort and character.
• Everyone, no matter how lazy, evil, or mentally impaired, has dignity in full measure.
• Science can prevent our lives from being so nasty, brutish, and short, but our lives would lack dignity, since it is dignified to live a life that is nasty, brutish, and short.

Dear SUV, I think some members here gave you the wrong impression about me, I'm not fond of wearing gasmasks, I had to wear gasmasks for years because I worked in a company that made a lot of dangerous chemicals so I know it's not very comfortable to wear such a device. However I like to collect them in a historical context and they look beautiful in terms of design but to wear them, that's just not me. Some masks have drinking capabilities and I tried that out one day for the laugh of it only to find out it's not very tasty to drink something from out of a tube. Ice-cream looks a little on the hard side to eat trough a gasmask, unless you let it melt and suck it up trough the before mentioned tube. But that doesn't look tasty either.

Among us, the very idea of “dignity” smacks too much of aristocracy for egalitarians and too much of religion for secularists and libertarians. Moreover, it seems to be too private and vague a matter to be the basis for legislation or public policy.

This wonderful report gives us a way to distinguish ourselves from the lie-bertarians for whom we True Republicans™ are often mistaken. When they talk about deregulation, they refer to a supposed right to engage in just the sort of voluntary self-degradation that this report condemns. By contrast, when we talk about it, we mean that businesses should be free to engage in those activities that further human dignity as correctly defined and understood. This is why deregulation, correctly understood, should not give businesses the freedom to grant domestic-partner benefits, post signs in El-Salivadorean, or broadcast Howard Stern.

This is the real reason we've liberated Iraq - to bring dignity.

When I first arrived back in 2003, Iraqis had no dignity. I saw them eating in public, the women were dressed immodestly, and their lives were mostly shallow and frivolous.

Today, I never see Iraqis eating in public. In fact, even during house raids I never find evidence of them eating in private. I guess they must have "burger-closets" that they sneak into to eat their big-macs. They even hide the food, every time I've searched an Iraqi fridge for WMD, it's empty (of food).

The women of Iraq now dress extremely modestly. The desire to prolong youthfulness is no longer around, most Iraqis look like they've aged 20 years in the last 5. And I have never heard of any Iraqi today who lives a shallow or frivulous life!

We liberated Iraq because we must protect people from voluntary acts of self-degredation at all costs. Yes, some of the stuff that goes on at Abu Graib might not be much fun to watch, but we have to preserve these people's dignity. At any cost.

Thank you for sharing more news from the front, Brother Trent! This dramatic increase in dignity in Iraq is indeed pleasing to the Lord!

Have you had any luck helping the Iraqis realize that the reason they became subject to the evil dictator, Sodamm Insane, was because they worship the moon instead of God? Do they realize that they can have even more dignity by falling to their knees and praising Jesus in front of their fellow Iraqis?

Snottyduck, before I became $avED, I worked in a dusty factory where I had to wear the little mouth-mask with the rubber band. Although this muffled my Praise to JESUS, the Dear Lord heard my Entreaties anyway, and I went on to Marry a True Christian Man, Pastor Kenneth. PRAISE!

Read your Bible and find out. Why would God create the lands named in the Old Testament and then order His chosen people to commit genocide against so many of their inhabitants? God is sovereign over all things and may do what He likes.

The bible was written by scholars hundreds of years ago, in order to retain order in society, so obviously places had names then, as civilisation was advanced.
Obviously the bible is a good book, to teach people how to live in a civilized society, however there is no paranormal activity to back it up.
