    Re: Horror Movies From God

Mrs. BiG, I see you have not seen the Blair Witch 2. While the acting is pretty bad and it is quite explicit, it does have a few good Christian morals in it.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000) (for the technical aspects) (for the message)

Four teens hire a tour guide to explore the area where the Blair Witch is. The characters include a couple living in sin and fornication, a fortune-telling goth, a wiccan (need I say more?), and a drug-dealing probable homersexual. The story is presented through a series of flashbacks where a few of them are being interviewed at a police station.

Basically, they all take drugs, fornicate, have satanic rituals, and end up murdering each other. While this certainly doesn't sound like a Christian movie at first, it does accurately depict what will happen if you choose to live a life of sin. It also accurately depicts what not to do if you're making a movie, so there's also some educational value there.

On a side-note, it was nominated for 5 Razzie awards.
"Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him." Matthew 21:31-32

Ah, I remember that movie. Starring Mark Wahlberg as a sensitive pussyboy, right?

Yes, it was a great movie. Well, except for the premise, dialogue, and acting. Other than that, it was incredible!

        Re: Horror Movies From God

I mentioned "The Birds" earlier in this thread, perhaps I should go over some of Hitchcock's films. I'll only focus on his horror movies, because with 50 years in the industry and over 50 feature films to his name, there is no way I can review them all. It is also too bad that he is roasting in Hell because his Catholic parents drove him away from God. Interesting side note though, he claims that his ideas came from his Catholic upbringing. A rather disturbing thought.

Blackmail(1929) Silent version or first of his "talkies"
Even in the 1920's they had to have films about warning women not to wander off with strange men. Alice White is engaged to Frank Webber of Scotland Yard. She sneaks off to meet another man, who convinces her to come up to his studio where he attempts to rape her. She kills the would-be rapist with a knife. Her fiancée is given the case, but somebody is blackmailing Alice regarding what happened.

        Rebecca(1940)
Poor Mr. Maxim de Winter, attempts to be a good husband to Rebecca, unfortunately Rebecca is anything but a good wife. When she dies, he finds a Godly wife in his friends servant, unfortunately Mr. de Winter's own housekeeper has issues with this. It is an interesting play on how evil and manipulative us females can be and how our Godly husbands (and bosses) must be on their toes against such treachery.

        Suspicion(1941)
A story that explains why women should let their fathers choose their husbands. Poor Lina McLaidlaw falls for the first man to show interest in her. She finds out that this is a bad marriage and begins to fear for her life. Fortunately it has a Christian ending with her husband turning his life around and her sticking with him.

        Shadow of a Doubt(1943)
Another of his stories that shows the proper place for a woman. Charlotte "Charlie" Newton longs for some adventure in her dreary California life, when her parents announce that her uncle Charlie is coming to town. Uncle Charlie has a dark secret that he lets his niece in on, then decides to attempt to kill her to keep her from telling anyone else. But being a good girl, she keeps the secret to herself, only telling her fiancée after Uncle Charlie is dead.

        Spellbound(1945)
I wasn't happy with this one. Female doctors who know more than their male coworkers? Where did his mind go?

        The Paradine Case(1947)
Another one showing the wiles of women. Remember many great men in the Bible were destroyed by their lust for exotic women.

        Rope(1948)
I can't say that there is any particular Christian story in this one, however it does delve into where reading Nietsche can lead. Basically a couple of philosophy students decide that they are superior to their classmate and murder said classmate to prove that they are capable of committing the "perfect murder".

        Stage Fright(1950)
Filth, absolute filth. Everyone is sleeping with everyone and the only married man in the picture gets killed to make way for his wife to sleep around.

        Strangers on a Train(1951)
I'm really not sure what was going on with Hitchcock in this period of his film making. Lots of whoring going on in his films. This one involves a pair of men who meet on a train and decide to commit murder for each other.

        I Confess(1953)
I guess Hitchcock's Catholicism had to come out in one of his films. He even based this one in Canada.

        Dial M for Murder(1954)
Very strange movie. A woman whore's about with a man who actually garners her husbands friendship. Instead of publicly outing her as the adulterous whore that she is, he comes up with an intrinsic plan to have her murdered. It backfires, and he is found to be the guilty party, rather than the cuckold victim.

          Re: Horror Movies From God

          More Hitchcock......

          Rear Window(1954)
As I said before, I don't know what was going through Hitchcock's mind at this moment. This is quite a liberal film, people fornicating outside of marriage and those are the "good guys" Basically in this movie a crippled man who is bored of fornicating with his girlfriend starts spying on his neighbors through a telescopic lens. He suspects that one of the neighbors has murdered his own wife and makes it his mission to bring the man to justice.

          The Trouble with Harry(1955)
Now we're getting back to something that the whole family can watch. This is an invaluable story for the children about coming clean when you think you're in trouble. The "trouble with Harry" is that he is dead, and a bunch of people think that they killed him. Instead of going to the law and telling their stories, they try to do everything they can to hide their involvement. Their actions actually make life harder for them.

          Psycho (1960)
A prime example of why a boy needs a father. Mother Bates raised poor Norman as if they were the only two people in the world, this warped poor Norman to the point that he couldn't function without her. To the point of digging up her remains and stuffing her. Then there is Marion Crane, fornicating with an adulterer and working in a Realty office. Considering how immoral this woman is, it was rather foolish of her boss to leave $40,000 in her possession. She decides to run away and start a new life with her boyfriend (who is still married btw). God leads her astray onto the old highway and into the arms of Norman Bates and his "mother".

          The Birds (1963)
Although the sins of the town are never put forward in this movie, God has sent birds to attack the townsfolk. A scientist denies that this is happening, even while a person outside is being attacked. Showing how atheists will take their science over what their own two eyes show them. One woman mentions that it is the Apocalypse, but is shouted down for daring to scare children. The movie ends without explaining exactly why the birds are attacking people.

          Marnie (1964)
A movie that shows what marriage can do for a woman. Marnie is a woman who does not trust men, fears the color red and is a compulsive thief. She goes from employer to employer robbing them blind. Finally she robs Mark Rutland who instead of charging her, tracks her down and blackmails her into marrying him. Once married he finds out that she is also frigid. Mark tries nicely to consummate the marriage, but eventually ends up forcing himself upon her, she is so upset about this, she attempts suicide, but fails. Mark helps Marnie find the roots of her issues and she eventually succumbs to becoming a proper wife.

Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom

This is a controversial Italian Horror movie
. It is based on the book The 120 Days of Sodom by the Marquis de Sade. The film focuses on four wealthy, corrupted Atheists in Benito Mussolini's Italy in 1944 who kidnap a total of eighteen teenage boys and girls and subject them to four months of extreme violence, sadism, sexual and mental torture. The film is noted for exploring the themes of political corruption, abuse of power, sadism, perversion, sexuality, and fascism.

This movie shows the real face of atheism!

Films like this remind us that these vile behaviours are real, and that we are protected from them by God's Real Power.

                                Re: Horror Movies From God

1974's Black Christmas provides a cautionary tale to any parent whose daughter is considering a sorority.

It's Christmas break. Most of the girls have gone home for the holidays, except the semi-sane drunk (Barb, played by a young and not-yet-insane Margot Kidder), the virgin (Clare, played by nobody), the Jewess (Phyl, played by Andrea Martin), the drunk house mother (Mrs. Mac, played by nobody), and the foreign baby-killing harlot (Jess, played by Olivia Hussey).

The movie was remade in 2006, with Andrea Martin returning but taking the role of Mrs. Mac. (I have not seen the remake, which apparently adds some lengthy backstory about the killer and changes the story substantially.)

In the original, a serial killer breaks into the sorority house and starts offing the frightened females, hiding the bodies so they report people missing instead of murdered. His real target? Probably Jess, who is pregnant out of wedlock. She selfishly informs her conservatory pianist boyfriend Peter that she's carrying his child, and about to have it torn out and flushed down a toilet . . . a few hours before the most important recital of his life. You can guess how his recital goes.
