    Mandrake Wyne

Song of Solomon 7:13 The mandrakes giue a ſmell, and at our gates are all maner of pleaſant fruits, new and olde, which I haue laid vp for thee, O my beloued.

Here is a receet for mandrake wyne.

10 shekels of shaved mandrake roote
2 ephah of fresh fruit (figs, pears, or apples)
    1 omer of raw sugar
    1 bath of fresh water

Boile the mandrake, sugar, and water in an iron cauldron for 1 hour, during the earlie summertyme, on a day when the moone will bee fulle. In the meantime, crush the fruit underfoote. Cool the liquid, add the crushed fruit, and leave uncovered overnight. Praye to the lord and ladie to bless your endeavor. In the morning, poure the must into a vessell and let it ferment untill the winter solstice. Drink and commune with the gods.
