Does God want me to sleep on my side because that is not comfortable for me.

    Hello Landover Baptist Church.

I was reading the Bible and I was in the Book of Ezekiel and I saw where God gave Ezekiel very specific instructions about sleeping on his side look at Ezekiel 4:4-6 it says:

Lie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou shalt bear their iniquity. For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.

I do not understand why God makes Ezekiel sleep on his left side for 390 days then God makes Ezekiel sleep on his right side for 40 days I can not do this because my spine has a problem and I have to sleep on my back. What if God asks me to lay siege to Jerusalem that is what Ezekiel was planning he also had to build a scale model of Jerusalem that part would be fun.

In that same chapter God told Ezekiel to cook some barley cakes over human poo but Ezekiel asked God if he could use cow poo instead and God said OK that was nice of Him.

    Thank you.

Brother Rusty, There are many things that God asks and expects of us, few of which we understand. It is for us to obey His every command, and not to question them. If God hadn't told Ezekiel which side to sleep on, he may well have lain awake at night, pondering which side God wanted him to sleep on. God relieved Ezekiel of that anguish.

If God asked you to sleep on your back, others may well wonder why He did so. It's not for us to question Him, merely for us to obey Him.

I always sleep balled up in the fetal position with my rear end pressed firmly against the wall, as a guard against being soundly buggered whilst I slumber. It has been effective thus far, to the best of my knowledge.

Amen. When we can't understand His ways, we may yet rejoice in His promises. Praise Him.

a good understanding have all they that do his commandments:
        his praise endureth for ever.

And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

When I don't understand why God is asking something of me, I just assume the problem is with me. I figure if I had a clear head, God's request would make perfect sense.

I don't know if it's Biblically sound, and I'm seeking a verse that will go in accordance with my parental decision, but I always make my kids sleep face down in their pillows to keep them from snoring. Snoring is a disgusting noise. Only the lower-class do it.

Brother Rusty, it is important to realise that all this happened quiet a few years ago, and the sleeping on the left and right has been done: we know this as God has made Israel into one of the happiest nations on earth.

If God has appointed you as his tool, he will ask you to do something that you can do reasonably well, like bang two stones together, or clean out the pool. But He'll probably ask you to do it for a mysteriously long time, the significance of which, only He will know.
