I think if you open your eyes, you'll see no conflict here. We often are attacked by nonbelievers. We do not fight them, God resolves them for us. Your sister has serious problems. John 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

That PARTICULAR man was born blind to make manifest the works of God, ie, in order for Jesus to show off His miraculous powers. Notice Jesus says He does this so He can bring light to the world during His time on Earth.
