  • Pray that Suffering Ends Soon

My mother said that father fell today and is in the emergency room. At this point he has a 90 percent chance of full recovery but I think the Lord should just take him to hell instead so that his earthly suffering will cease and he doesn't have to worry about all his money, cars, and nagging wife.

Won't you lift him in prayer to this (quick, I hope) end?
    Proverbs 21:31 KJV 1611:
“The horse is prepared against the day of battell: but safetie is of the Lord.”

Lord, may I serve my equine brothers and sisters just as I do my fellow man.
    Amen and Amen

    But of course!

Dear Lord, Father, please ease Brother Larry's father's suffering and allow him to die a quick and painless death.

    In Jesus' name, Amen

I'm lifting my prayers and sending them all to you, dearest Brother Larry. Please, Jesus, end Larry's father's suffering by healing him very quickly. Also, please let him live very long so that Larry can enjoy his company for many, many, many years to come.

Dear Lord: Thy Will be done. . .Which it always is. But it is nice of you to let us be part of your glorious plan for working out things exactly as you foresaw from the beginning of time when you created it.

          Brother Larry,

I must Pray that the suffering endures, as it would be ultimately much more beneficial to suffer. It will bring the person in agony a much more prestigious position in Heaven and the trauma will evaporate after some quadrillions of years with Jesus.

          Hebrews 11:25
          Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

          1 Peter 5:10
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

Jesus wants us to suffer while on earth.

          Yours in Christ,

          Elmer
2 Kings 18:25 - Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

Re: Pray that Suffering Ends Soon

Gratitude just isn't the correct word to describe what I'm feeling after receiving the phone call that my mother placed today.

First she assured me that Father was in good spirits. Yea.
Next, she told me he had no broken bones. Whoopee.
Then, she said his healing was nothing short of miraculous and that he feels better than ever. Gee, thanks, Lord.

I believe the next time something like this happens I'll not post a prayer request here. Sister Dana is the only one who seems to understand a simple prayer request.

Um, I mean, thank you ALL for your kindness at this stressful time. Thanks a LOT.

Oh, my goodness, dear Brother Larry! I hope I am not to blame for this outcome, but I fear that this may have been the result of my prayers last night. You see, I was somewhat confused by Sister Dana's prayer to the good . When she said, "allow him to die ...", I was afraid that might be confused as to who "him" is. I couldn't bear the thought of the taking you in error, my dear, darling Great-Grandbaby Larry, so I prayed with great might that would know the request was not about your demise. But as it was late in the evening, and as I had removed my dentures for the night, my words were probably sounding a bit mixed up. But the good news is, you're both still here, so all prayers were answered! A blessed day to you, Dear Sweet One.
              Sincerely, Granny Isabella.

It seems my prayers are not as powerful as those of True Christians. I am very sorry. Perhaps he will catch pneumonia in the hospital and die?

Oh, dear Sister Dana, please don't fret -- I'm sure your prayers are very powerful, indeed. I think it's my fault, and I take full responsibility, unreservedly, for this terrible mess-up. My well-intentioned prayers must have undone the good prayers that you had offered to so kindly earlier. I am truly sorry to you and Brother Larry for any inconvenience. Please do try to find it within the goodness of your blessed heart to forgive this old lady. Good heavens! It's days like this when I feel like Aunt Clara.

                  Sincerely and ashamedly, Isabella W.

Re: Pray that Suffering Ends Soon

Sorry to hear the bad news, Brother Larry. Correct me if I'm mixing your parents up with someone else's, but aren't they Catlicks? If so, now is the time to convert your father. If he doesn't accept Jesus, the suffering will NEVER end. I will pray that your efforts are successful in this trying time.

                    Yours in Him,

I was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful shore,
                    Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the Sea heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I!

Re: Pray that Suffering Ends Soon

Brother Larry, I talked with my Pa about your Pa’s suffering this morning and he said that he should accept Jesus as his savior so he can die peacefully. Does your Pa happen to have advanced directives in the case he isn’t able to make his own decisions? It would be best probably if you contacted a good expensive Christian lawyer who can help get your Pa on the right track if he is able to pay the lawyer fees.

Re: Pray that Suffering Ends Soon

No point in continuing this issue. Father is fine and shows no signs of doing the right thing at this time. As for saving his papist soul, I will leave that in God’s Hands. Stubborn guy never listens to me nor will he seem to see me as an example of how Christ can change ones life.

Please hold me up in prayer that I might endure his thoughtlessness.
