We go to the Baptist church and have never been informed we need to have a prayer closet. Jesus hears our prayers no matter where we are. What conference is your church a member of? I don't recall what ours is -- General Conference I think; I just know that we avoid all Baptist churches that are members of the conference that donated $800,000 to build a gay church in Seattle.

A prayer closet is a place for personal reflection. Typically soundproof, they allow complete devotion to God without interruption. Google it.

I have also never been informed by my church that my husband needs to spank me for my disobedience. If we have disagreements, we talk about them without resorting to violence to solve our difficulties.

Switching is not violence. I abhor violence. If you think the two are the same, you have a pretty warped view of the world. I can verbally reprimand my wife or children alone or include the switch. I know when I include the switch, it is the last time the problem ever arises. Tell me, which would you prefer, to be yelled at for being an idiot empty headed female every single day of your life or just one good switching instead?

You say you are in Iowa. Are you sure your church is not in Kentucky? I have heard that Appalachian men spank their wives, but I have not heard of another society that holds to this barbaric custom! The Bible says spare the rod, spoil the CHILD; not spare the rod, spoil the WIFE!! I am an adult and expect to be treated as such. Therefore, if I want to scream and yell and burn dinner and have a tantrum, that is exactly what I will do. What do you think about them apples?

In our home, we sit at our dining table to read the Bible together. Our closets are used for storage only.

My husband would not dare try to spank me, and I don't believe for one minute that a man who truly loves his wife would hit her with a stick for two hours! If you love your wife as yourself, would you allow someone to hit you with a stick for two hours?

I am sorry to hear you are not fortunate enough to have a prayer closet. Perhaps if you sold some of your pie, your husband could afford one.

It is a shame your husband is such a pantywaist and is afraid to be a real man. How long have you known he was a closet Homer? Perhaps that is why you do not have a prayer closet, because he is secreting himself in it.

Switching my family proves I love them. If I did not give them all the attention I do, they would feel unloved. Should I ignore misbehavior? Should I let people do what ever they want? People need to know there are consequences for their actions. When I 'get involved' with a member of my family, they know I love them. Because if I did not love them, I would not 'get involved. Same reason Jesus died the slow death on the cross for our sins. Love and suffering are one and the same.

This is unbelievable! Is it a joke? The idea that a man would, or could, spank me is ludicrous. I have a wicked sense of humor and love to pull pranks, including pranks on my husband. Not long ago, I covered the inside lenses of his sunglasses with black shoe polish so when he put them on, he couldn't see anything. While he didn't think it was very funny, he sure didn't spank me for it! What is up with you guys? You sound archaic like cavemen! You sound like you don't even have a sense of humor. You guys need to lighten up and not take life so seriously. Planning my next prank right now...

I never spank, I give a good switching.

Misbehavior is not tolerated in the Hutchins house. There are no exceptions. A two hour switching followed by a few days in the prayer closet has my wife thinking right.

The only 'pranks' I allow are those played on the help.
