The shekel is a unit of weight. This post & a few others give the current value of 50 shekels (silver), but as far as I'm aware, there is not a regularly updated value for the various shekel(s)/talent gold/silver values maintained on the site. Whenever one is requested, somebody just looks up the [silver] price (I tend to use spot silver NY close).

The fate of rapees in The Bible varies according to marital sataus and how she conducts herself during the rape activity. Sometimes she is killed, sometimes the man is killed, sometimes they should both be killed. I do have a good education, in fact I work with technology. However I also understand the difference between technology and theoretical science.

As for starving children, I don't see you doing anything about it. Where in the Bible does it ever say that God wouldn't allow you "humanists" to screw up the world? From what I've read, God has promised his True followers blessings because we humble ourselves before him.

Anyways, i know there is a difference between technology and theoretical science, but back in Medieval times, when Catholic churches had absolute power, and the slightest belief in science, or just being a free-thinker got you stoned, for being a sinner...Yet killing is a 'Sin' correct? plus the rules in the bible were altered by other people than this so called 'god', so how could everything be correct? without the ties of religion that held back science, we would have extreme advancement by now. Why would the raped woman ever be killed? It's not her fault, men are generally physically stronger than women so there's not really much she could do about it. It is entirely the man's fault.

Which part? Men DO tend to be physically stronger than women, that's just obvious. If you meant the bit about it being the man's fault- I just wore short shorts down to the corner shop and back and no-one raped me (thankfully). Surely if those men had the slightest bit of self-control they could stop themselves from committing a horrible crime, the effects of which often stay with girls for years afterwards?
