I agree that video games can be a strong influence on impressionable young minds, but it depends heavily on the parenting. I was fortunate enough to have two Christian parents who were able to create a sensible head on my shoulders, and have given me an accurate and Biblical sense of right and wrong. That being said, I used to own the game "Oblivion" a few years ago, spent countless hours playing it, and was still able to praise and acknowledge Jesus as my savior. I was automatically able to tell that the game had Satanic overtones and that I shouldn't let any aspects of this game influence my real life. It didn't spark any interest in the occult, in fact it made the occult much more repulsive to me. What people are failing to mention here is that bad parenting is a far greater danger than the contents of this game. My parents taught me that witchcraft, murder, and etc were evil and I was able to understand that this fictional experience should STAY FICTIONAL.

However, I know that the majority of people are much more ignorant and susceptible to any and every influence that comes their way, and I agree that Oblivion is NOT something that most people should be exposed to, simply because most people are too naive the understand the very real Satanic aspects of this game and how it shouldn't apply to their actual lives. But "Fallout 3" is nowhere near as evil as "Oblivion" is and I'd like to say some things in its defense. First, we should be able to agree that Fallout 3 is several notches less Satanic than Oblivion just by the fact that all of the occult sorcery and demonic activity from Oblivion is not present here at all.

I find it disturbing how some people can think everything is a plot to get children to shoot each other - and this is coming from someone who believes that the media is trying to brainwash us. Let's say that you survived a nuclear attack, and were stranded on an endless wasteland, as depicted in this game. There are looters and gangs everywhere fighting for control and survival. Keep in mind, this is a situation within the realm of possibility. If you were able to build a gun out of darts and rubber bands, or a "mine" out of "bottlecaps", wouldn't you utilize the few resources that you had in order to survive, or better yet, protect your family? Yet people still find a way to spin this into being a scheme to influence teenagers into building pipe bombs to blow up their school.

The original post mentioned the "Ghouls" in this game as being "zombie demons" who are wrongfully depicted as "good guys". The ghouls are actually human beings who've had the misfortunate of being disfigured by radiation. While some of the ghouls literally are "zombies," because their brains have been fried to the point where they're reduced to primitive, violent animals, many of the ghouls are only mutated cosmetically and are intelligent, kind-hearted people. In fact, some of the questlines in this game revolve around the ugly bigotry that most humans have towards the intelligent ghouls. Moral of the story here is, the ghouls are not at all demonic in nature. Drug use is also NOT promoted in this game, at least, not any more than a commercial segment on Fox News. The pharmaceutical industry and advertisers promote more dangerous chemicals than video games ever will. Whatever you have, they have a pill that they want you to take for it. The option to use drugs in the game is available, but you can become ADDICTED which has many negative consequences that every player strives to avoid. Also I'm very confused as to why the original post has a problem with drug addiction being cured by a DOCTOR instead of a reverend at the church. When it comes to salvation, I agree that Jesus is the only way, but seriously, I don't think Jesus would be offended by anyone going to a doctor to treat their ailments.

Yes, you can kill the "good guys" in the game, and yes there are prostitutes and computer hacking, guess where else we can find these things: REAL LIFE. In real life, one may be REWARDED by breaking into someone's car, by getting a new iPod. In real life, one could walk down the street and run into a crazy old man promoting the Church of Scientology (or "the Church of Atom"). Even though it saddens me to see people in the game worshipping the false idol "Atom", it's simply a representation of what actually happens in the world that God created. In real life, we have the choice to kill whoever we want, and we may actually be rewarded for that as well, as some of you may find that some sick people out there are willing to pay a lot of money for hitmen. Just because you CAN do it, doesn't mean you WILL. The same goes for Fallout 3. All of the options and temptations in this game are ones that we face in real life. One could play through the entire game without killing an innocent life, stealing, computer hacking, etc. So if you're "appalled" by the content of this game, by that logic you should also be appaled with God (which is obiously foolish).
