Ah, but most criminals are repeat offenders or career criminals. So putting 1 criminal behind bars means you can prevent perhaps 50 crimes from ever taking place.

So this is a much stronger theory for explaining why crime rates are dropping than the advent of video games: take away the cause (bad people) and you reduce the number of bad events from happening.

The problem, however, is that when an entire generation is potentially corrupted into being bad people, you can no longer use prison as a solution. That is the horror scenario we are trying to prevent.

Your first statement is absolutely true and its the first thing on here that has been backed up with actual statistics, you forget that many crimes are still committed behind bars. You continue to assume that video games make criminals when there isn't one scientific study that backs up this claim. If you read my post more carefully you would see I didn't use the advent of video games as an explanation for dropping crime I just pointed out that if what you believe is correct than crime rates should have shot up with increasing sales of video games over the years.
