Children, like slaves, are the property of their owners.

Here are GOD's rules for beating slaves:

And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.

Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money. - Exodus 21:20-21

So we can see that if you beat your property (in this case, a slave) and he dies during the beating, you are to be punished.

However, if the property survives a day or two after the beating, you are blameless. The slave (or child) is your property and money. They can both be bought and sold, and both can be beaten and disciplined.

As long as they don't die immediately during or after the beating, you're fine.

It's amazing that anything ever gets done on the internet, if servers are so volatile they are constantly exploding and burning down buildings like meth labs.

At any rate, we've been running this server for years without trouble, so I think I will continue to stick with our church computer expert rather than the advice given to me by a random retard online.
