Ah, you're referring to Charles Whitman. That wasn't a school shooting. Allow me to explain.

It was a person battling with depression and drug abuse who went crazy -- the actual shooting started outside of school grounds as he first shot his wife. Then ended up at a school.

That being said, you raise an excellent point: playing video games induces the same effect as (illegal) drugs. So the real question is: "why ban illegal drugs but not video games?"

I'm sure it has been mentioned before but I just wanted to reiterate that Team Fortress has been rated M by the ESRB and isn't meant for children. If you are somehow are surprised that your child is playing this game on your home PC without your knowledge, you have failed as a parent to monitor what your children are doing.

There are many things that can be disabled in the game to make it more child friendly, but if you don't take the time to participate in your child's interests and learn about things before banning them outright, you are a bad parent.

Sorry to say it, but your child is probably also looking at pornography and having arguments with people on the internet. It's a lot more difficult for a child to buy a game on STEAM with your credit card than look at illicit materials freely available on the internet.

Don't blame the game, be a better parent.

I'm a 19 year old confirmed christian in England. Ive played TF2 since it was released in about 2007. Personally I find some of the comments made by the more permanent members of this forum childish and innappropriate, especially the OPs general arguments.

i discovered about it this weekend when my 15 year old son charlie brought home his friend and they were playing on his friend's laptop a game where it's nothing but killing, bad words, god bashing, anti-american propaganda, and worst of all HOMOSEXUALITY

Killing = yes, theres a lot of it in there.
Bad words = No swear words, but there are some curse words like p*ss and insults like "maggot".
God Bashing = No. There really isnt ANY god bashing in this game. Im genuinely shocked you would think this.
Anti-American Propaganda = Errr no. This game features three american characters the rest are from different nations like Scotland, France and Germany. These characters all get along (in their relevant teams, of course) and there is no signs of any cultural tension between any characters. If anything it would be pro-American.
Homosexuality = Wha? Where did you pick this up?

Look, in general I'm quite disgusted with the way you jump to conclusions through assumptions and not really bother to read about the game first.
