I understand your anger and tendency to resort to being a bit of a potty mouth over this. I was once a dirty Catholic. I believed all manner of falsehood that had been indoctrinated into me by priests who were on the prowl for sweet boy-butt to fornicate with. I listened to what they had to say and chanted their chants in church and ate their magic wafers.

Then one day I read the Bible and would you believe it! Just about everything I had ever been told about God was wrong. He wasn't this sissy God I had been told about who loves everyone and can even tolerate gays and adultery. No! God is a God of intolerance and hatred for perversion and swift and certain retribution for not doing exactly as He commands.

Having seen that it was obvious I had to turn my back on the Catholics.

Go and actually read the Bible, friend, instead of basing your beliefs on what you wish it said if it agreed with you more. You'll see what you should be believing to actually be a True Christian(TM). Only then will you believe in God as much as I do.

Go back to what made you angry. I posted two pieces of pertinent scripture with no comment whatever and you now know God hates you.

but I am not running from God. I do believe in him, I just don't believe in some of what the bible says.
Ok, i'll tell you guys my perspective, cause I'm tired of arguing.
Ok, first of all, I don't like how the bible says that homosexuals should be condemned/stoned what have you, second, the discrimination against all that don't believe in god is something that I don't agree with, I don't think anyone should be discriminated against no matter what. Everyone is equal, that is my belief. That's pretty much it, everything else I'm fine with, but why do we have to descriminate, and why must people force their religion on others?
But I do believe in God, I have no doubt that he exists. I just don't believe in all the things the bible says

If you don't believe in what the Bible says than you don't believe God should have said it therefore you are saying God is wrong.

Now why not just admit you are an atheist pretending to be a Christian so you can mock God then go to bed and get some sleep. you really can't stay consistent about what you believe for five minutes.

Go away and think about what you believe. Where do your deeply held convictions come from? I would say they come from your head and have nothing to do with God and you're just projecting your own desires onto a vaguely remembered notion of their being things about God in a Bible you know nothing of and are struggling when people who know the Bible inside and out confront you with reality. God has only EVER told us what He wants in the Bible which is the only reliable record of God that isn't just imagined voices in other people's heads.

You are just constructing your own ideas and believing in an imaginary friend of your own construct. That imaginary friend does not exist but you use him to try to make your views above debate. This is cowardice. At least have the balls to come out and say you don't believe in God. We then have some honesty to work with.

God. and you somehow got this idea in your head, that I created a friend, a god, in my head. no, i didn't, I have clearly stated in the past that I acknowledge that this god says things I do not believe in, yes the very god I believe in! it's the same one! What my brothers are pointing out is that you are picking the personality traits about God that you like but ignoring the bits that you don't.

You have seen scripture from the Good Book say that God loves us but also that he does not love every one because they sin: God hates the gays and murderers. It says so in the Bible (KJV1611). Since the Bible is either God's word or not you either have to beleive all of it or none of it.

When I came here I was suprised to find that God took names but the brothers and sisters here know what they are talking about.

God loves but it is also clear he hates a lot of people (bad people like gays and murderers) a great deal. If you love God you will obey him.

Over and over, we're told that homosexual sex is immoral according to Christianity, that the Bible condemns homosexual behavior, that gays are performing abomination. Yet the scriptures that are put forth to "prove" this fact are vague to say the least. There are two primary places in the Bible where you'll find scriptures that seem to specify homosexuality: the Mosaic Law portion in the first five books of the Christian Bible, and in many of Paul's writings in the New Testament. Homosexuality and Mosaic Law
The single scripture most clearly condemning homosexual behavior is Leviticus 20:13: "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."
That sounds pretty straightforward: gay sex=execution. But is that really what Christianity believes?
Well, yes, because the Old Testament is part of the Christian Bible. This scripture, the evilness of the men of Sodom and Gomorrah, and several other scriptures in this older part of the Bible all revile homosexuality. I want to find otherwise, but it's pretty clear. Is that all there is to it?
No. Christianity states that the New Testament supersedes the Old Testament. The eye for an eye" rule was superseded by "do unto others." And Christ specifically stated that He marked a turning point in the worship of God, and that the old ways were swept away when He entered the world.
So what about the New Testament?
Paul on Homosexuality
Jesus never directly addresses the issue of homosexuality. Never. Not once. He addresses many other things, like idolatry and greed and priorities and loving one another, but he doesn't speak a word about the gay lifestyle. Paul, on the other hand, does:
1 Corinthians 6:9-10: "Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor practicing homosexuals nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
Okay, that looks pretty straightforward. But in the original Greek, what is here translated as "practicing homosexuals" actually refers to a catamite, a young boy who is used sexually by an older man. Because the term is hard to translate into modern English with the original sense intact, the word "effeminate" is used in some translations.
Now it doesn't look so straightforward. Besides, consider this:
Sexually immoral
Idolater
Adulterer
Male prostitute (who were typically young boys)
Thieves
Greedy
Drunkard
Slanderer
Swindler
This is a list of the actions that are EQUATED to not homosexuality, but the keeping of a catamite, in Paul's letter. Equated. What do they have in common? They all hurt other people. Adult homosexuality is NOT in that list. Paul is condemning something a little different, something we can all agree with the condemnation of today.
Notice you don't hear televangelists railing about the slanderers in the world and how the slanderers should be removed from the face of the earth because they are evil. Or how God hates drunkards and greedy people. Are they really just men of their times, as all men are? As the men who wrote the Bible were?
In the societies in which our modern Bible was written, homosexuality existed. But it had a very different face. Let's keep that in mind when we read about how Christianity condemns homosexuals. What the Bible specifies may not be what we think of as homosexual at all, partly at least because of the language differences and partly because people are different today. At the very least, condemnation of homosexuality is nowhere near as clear-cut as many Christians would have us believe.
