Forrest Mars, Sr., founder of the Mars Company, got the idea for the confection in the 1930s during the Spanish Civil War when he saw soldiers eating chocolate pellets with a hard shell surrounding the inside, preventing them from melting. Mars received a patent for his own process on March 3, 1941. Production began in 1941 in a factory located at 285 Badger Avenue in Clinton Hill, Newark, New Jersey. One M was for Forrest E. Mars Sr., and the other M was for Bruce Murrie, son of long-term Hershey president William F.R. Murrie.[3] Murrie had 20 percent interest in the product. The arrangement allowed the candies to be made with Hershey chocolate which had control of the rationed chocolate.[4] When operations were started, the hard-coated chocolates were made in six different colors: brown, yellow, orange, red, green and violet. The practicality of the candies during World War II caused an increase in production and its factory moved to bigger quarters at 200 North 12th Street in Newark, New Jersey where they remained until 1958 when it moved to a bigger factory at Hackettstown, New Jersey. i do believe all of you who agree with this post need to pray for forgiveness...for in the bible does it not say you shall not judge but be judged... yes i am a homosexual but, i am also a christian... i believe this type of ignorance is the cause of most young confused gay people end up taking their own lives... i will have prayer for all of you... and by the way i know many heterosexual people that eat skittles and other rainbow colored candies... i do have one question... have you ever tried skittles? if you have then you must be gay or have aids...... Matthew 7:1-5 addresses hypocritical judgement. It is not a command not to judge, like you think. If I am not a homosexual, I have every right to judge homosexuals. That is what Jesus was saying.

Let me explain to you how being unsaved trash works when you die.

really bright colors mean gay? what about fruits? apples and oranges are brightly colored and sweet. God made colors and he didn't make them Gay so colors do not determine anything about anything. I will not stop eating skittles because i know homosexuals are not "out to get me" and if they are God will protect me. Skittles will not make me or anyone else gay. You cannot be made gay, gay is not a choice. I also don't think God hates, He is a perfect being and hate is very human. I think it's blasphemous to say God hates. God loves everyone equaly.
