Oi vey--something that I can say about a situation that is patently not Christian. Maybe they will at least label the gay priests as such so parents will know whether their daughters or sons are at risk.

I've heard that "another denomination" [Lutheran] upon converting to pagan idolatry, if married, and ordained, may become priests and remain married within the abomination—God's word, not mine—of Rome.

Perhaps a common garden variety priest (or priestess) would not know that. All they've learned is muttering, waving around of hands, a few pieces to recite on specified dates (which they could learn even if they couldn't read) that sort of thing. From the career charlatan a little more is required. Reading. Writing. Accepting money. When to (or to not) defrock a lesser priest. And so on up the ladder. Archbishops need to regulate bishops. Cardinals hold sway over archbishops and so on – I'm not going to look up all the degrees of bloat but you get the idea.

But if they converted to Romish catholicism, renouncing their former goblins, being priests already e.g. Greek Orthodoxes, Lutherans or even Episcopalians (many subsets embracing African deities, such as they are) with a wife, or twenty wives, what employment is available to them if they can't be priests?

Here's what the Pope should do. He should require every class of new priests to sit through a Pastor Zeke sermon. Pastor Zeke piles on the sin and shame of homerism. I've seen certain people in the audience squirm when he pours it on. Those young homer priests would walk out of that sermon and keep on walking--never to be seen in a church again.

It's great to see you've started reading things. Are you suggesting Agamemnon was the first pope? An interesting idea, not one I'd endorse myself, otherwise though seems plausible. There must have been people calling themselves "Father" for Jesus to prohibit it:

For reference I thought it more likely you'd have the D-R text available. It includes some doublespeak giving a response to anyone who's actually read The Bible. As as explanation it fails utterly. It would be better to say something like, “Oh, ha ha yes, I can see where you're going wrong: we are not ‘upon Earth’” or similar. At least that doesn't flat-out contradict Jesus, even if nobody believes you're a Martian. But this thread isn't about Martians, it's about who may be ordained and whether they should be married, as God commands, or in a committed same-sex relationship (which He forbids) or even a casual new-debauchee-every-night setup for all I know. There are reasons why not – but to accept those it's necessary to read them in the first place.

What does the word "academic" signify to you? In this field I'd have thought studying what Jesus taught would be the very minimum. Fortunately that's recorded in a language you seem familiar with, although The Iliad uses a different style in the same way that a 4 o'clock fish market differs in vocabulary (and certain conventions of grammar) from an after-sunrise discussion among philologists. Altogether then, they're the same language and important for priests to learn. Do you spend much time at pre-dawn fish markets? I can recommend them for quality and general availability. Jesus knew about fish, as may be read in The Gospels, but then you'd find out what was prohibited and what was compulsory for Christians.

Nevertheless, as you can see, married priests are possible. In your case I guess you'd need to leave Rome, become an Anglican or Episcopalian or some such, get married, have a Romish reawakening and go through the process outlined above. I'm not sure what would happen if you married a man, perhaps if you wrote to the pope he could answer that. I don't think he'd read my letter somehow.

This is news? The only people the Catholic Church has ordained as priests for the last 1,500 years have been homos.
