I am with Brother Levi. Over and over again, I heard praise that the Harry Potter book series was encouraging young people to read, and with that one would make the assumption that it was generally increasing the levels of literacy among its fans.

Queer Perverts barely readable post demonstrates that this is not necessarily the case.

So, if the books don't necessarily improve the reading and writing ability of its devotees, then it's moral lessons of "good against evil" could prove equally inaccessible to the reading public.
