I sometimes wonder whether some of you suffered severe head trauma when you were children. Physicians do many things that were not mentioned in the Bible because medical science has advanced in the last 2,000 years. Any surgeon who operated without wearing proper protective equipment would be drummed out of the profession, not to mention sued.

The idea of historical timelines is comparatively recent; from perhaps Livy? but in any event the thought processes applied to either history or medicine are all performed by the same brain. And you have raised a very important point. Disregard for facts in one arena becomes the foundation for cognition in others. For example if you thought the sun was square when it is not (or if you called "square") then, using the same brain, why should you not endorse other contrarian positions? Kicking off from Galen, medico of his day, knowledge has improved in areas thitherto uncertain at best, more likely utterly incomprehensible, and the benefits are undeniable. An arena of ignorance had been flooded with new information like mock naval encounters in the flooded Colosseum.

What happened next? Today there are souls committed to ideas having no basis in reality; what they think has been refuted, just as Galen overturned ideas in his time with new and verifiable propositions, yet they persist. The sun is square? Why should we bother. Because when that brain attends to other propositions its chaos (or its delusion if is square) gives rise to the falsehoods we see advanced today.

Either they are rational or they're not. God's position regarding plague is explicit, vouchsafed for us in The Bible, but contradicted in every way by those poisoned minds. Where do you stand? Is the response deficient because it disregards Galen? or is it deficient because it disregards God. Once a brain installs malware in one arena, can it ever be trusted in others?

I stand with the people who will needlessly die if we don't get the pandemic under control. And you offer a false choice. We can pray and wear masks.

Given that it is the patients being operated on who are sick, wouldn't there be more danger of them infecting the surgeons than vice versa? If masks did any good then they would put them on the patients, not the doctors.
