Introduction of a fearful Christian

Greetings,

I was a wayward soul at one point. In desolate Wisconsin(Yikes!), a foolish, godmocking, younger me decided to read the KJV 1611 for "laughs", but to my surprise, my eyes were opened! I read through our Lord's word in a week (I know, I could've done it faster ). I currently go to no church, as there is no church nearby that isn't spouting some sort of "feel-good" message. The closest I can do is spend Sunday reading the KJV...

My favorite bible verse is Proverbs 13:11
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."

I find your beliefs align perfectly with the Bible, and that is something I can respect. I hope you can teach me more about God's will for me.

Welcome, RFTR! You are quite correct that True Christianity™ is not some simplistic, "feel-good" philosophy. Any person who feels good while cutting up people with a saw is someone that I would worry about.


1 Chronicles 20:3
And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt David with all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.


It's important to remember here that David was serving God and smiting God's enemies. The Bible doesn't say that David just thought that sawing human beings into pieces would be a fun way to spend an afternoon. (It may actually have taken a bit longer.) No doubt it was hard work and David took his responsibility to serve the Lord seriously.


After all, few men have been praised so fulsomely in God's Holy Book.


Acts 13:22
And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will.


So, we know from this verse that David put his blood, (well, mostly other people's blood) sweat, and tears into doing God's will. And if that called for him to get a sore arm from slicing and dicing people without the benefit of today's high tech cutting tools, well, then that sweet, psalm-writing shepherd boy was going to risk ruining his music career spraining his hand because that's what the Lord called him to do! Can I get an amen, here?

You are so on the right track here, Brother/Sister RFTR. So many people don't grasp that you have to give up your own understanding of right and wrong and trust God all the way. That's what Abraham was willing to do. He heard a voice telling him to offer up his son as a burnt sacrifice and didn't let any paternal feelings tug on his heartstrings-- no way.


Yes, he was planning to slit the child's throat first, because that's how things were done. But that fire was laid out and that knife was sharpened (as much as possible-- again, not a lot of high-quality steel in those days). If the Lord hadn't intervened, Abraham was going to lay that sorry excuse for a blade against the tender skin of his child's scrawny neck and keep at it until the deed was done. No matter how many tears the boy squeezed out, Abraham was a man of God who knew how to OBEY.

You betcha our beliefs align perfectly with the Bible because the Bible is perfect, just like God.

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

Now, if the Bible itself tells us that all of it is inspired by God and that all of it is meant to instruct us, then there really is no way to squirm out of following through on the tough parts and still claim to be following God.

Can you imagine what God would have done if Abraham or David had been squeamish or unnerved by the thought of killing another person? Moses wasn't allowed to enter the Promised Land because he tapped on a rock twice instead of only once as instructed! And that punishment was leveled by the Lord because Moses sort of doubted a little, it wasn't really intended as rank disobedience.


But that's what happens when you worship The One True God of the Bible--it's His Way or the hellway. Happily, we know that God is merciful, because He tells us He is:


Deuteronomy 4:31
(For the Lord thy God is a merciful God) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.


Just as long as you are careful to do everything that He tells you to do in the exact way that He tells you to do it, everything will be fine . . . unless Satan double-dog dares the Lord like he did that one time with Job. But, hey, that turned out okay eventually, too. At least God allowed a great wind to knock down a house on top of Job's kids instead of commanding Job to personally slit the throats and burn the bodies of all ten of them. What a day that would have been!


All the same though, any True Believer™ would take a breather to remember these words:


Psalm 118:24
This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.


Above all else, whether prepping a child for a burnt offering or denying a marriage license to homosexual couple, remember this:

1 John 4:8

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.


God is love. Abraham knew it. David knew it. Job knew it. I'm sure Issac knew it, too. He just needed a gentle reminder after his dad tied him down and threatened to slit his throat.

You have been blessed by the LORD GOD to live in a state where the dynamic Scott Walker listened to Jesus and ran for the state's highest office. When the devil tried to uproot Walker from his God-given position, the Almighty intervened and kept Walker where he should be. You should be thankful to live in a state where Jesus is king. I can only think of one similarly blessed place and that would be Freehold, Iowa, where God works daily through Brother Mayor Johny Joe Hold, and where the Landover Baptist Church is a bright beacon to the globe through its Godly, upstanding pastors, in whom you will find no sin.


God is good!


I find it difficult to believe that in such a place you would come up lacking when seeking a Bible believing, God fearing place to assemble for worship. There are hundreds of Baptist churches in the Milwaukee area alone. All I had to do was search the Interwebs to discover hundreds of others all across that state. So - be honest:


What is REALLY keeping you from regular attendance? Are you:


1. Hideously scarred from bondage and discipline escapades with homosexuals in your youth?
2. Morbidly obese, requiring an engine hoist to lift you from your bathroom commode?
3. A transgender freak of nature, ignoring the fact that our LORD doesn't make mistakes?
4. Agoraphobic - the fear of sweaters made from agora?
5. A satan worshipping liar who seeks to infiltrate our holy fellowship, which will only result in your being found out when the Holy Ghost points a spiritual finger at you and reveals your true intentions?


It is not too late to be open and honest with us. As you have noticed, we are extremely welcoming to all and yet we must be on guard for hypocrites who might try to use our wisdom and knowledge of all things Christian for their own profit.


I will pray for you - although it will be an exploratory prayer, asking for the Holy Spirit to do a quick diagnostic to see if your spirit bears witness with ours (Romans 8:16). If it does, Praise God! If not, we will show you how to become a slave to the Master, Jesus Christ - the only true freedom that exists.


Remember that Jesus comes quickly (Rev. 22:12).

Sorry brother, it is true that there are churches to go to. Truth be told, My will is still weak and full of fear from my godmocking, experimental, homosexual days of adolescence. The Bible all changed that for me, of course, but my "rational mind" (still can't quite get over it) screams at me that anyone who sinned as I had should not enter a church. Truth be told, I believe I may fear churches too (Thanks a lot, Catholic childhood ).

It is my hope that you can help cleanse me of what I have done wrong, and to fully embrace Jesus.

I am moved by your confession (which I hope you directed to God, also). You see, I was raised in a strict Catholic home. My parents are still addicted to the wafers and wine and are soon to visit Rome to have some rosaries blessed and listen to Sister Frances ramble on about some obscure doctrine or dogma.


Either way, I understand you. While I am far from Wisconsin, I want you to envision us together, kneeling in front of one another as we lay hands on one another and engage in a manly embrace. Just as you feel my warm breath on your neck, imagine that the LORD GOD is breathing His Spirit into you, empowering you to face the sordid past with confidence that He HAS forgiven you (1 John 1:9) and you no longer need to deal with all the memories of the priest forcing you to commit sodomitization with him each week.


Picture that we remain in that embrace until both of us are satisfied that something huge has now entered the hole you created when you failed to trust in Christ Jesus. Rest in the afterglow of God's presence. I will expect to hear that you've located a Bible based church and that you're attending this Sunday and if they have a prayer meeting during the week, that you'll also be there. Find a church with a rock-solid men's group so that you may enjoy the comfort of brotherly love - this is so important to your Christian development. Without my male relationships, I would have a void in my life. When another man rests his holy hands upon you with true spiritual love, you will know joy and contentment unlike any other.

Sadly, their Bible study was last night! I will attend their Sunday services, so I hope I will find some other heterosexual Christian men to share my faith with.

Why, none other then the coming of the Rapture! I am praying constantly for God to accept me and take me, along with all you other great people, to Heaven as the rest of the world burns with sin.
