I know Catholics like asking questions about the Bible, because they are never told what the Bible says by their priests and shamans.

The essence of the question “Is suicide a sin?” is addressed in the omnipotence of God and the constant imprecations that the Bible holds to obey and “second-guess” what God wants.

I will refer you to John 9 in which Christ explains some of the philosophy of His Father:

You will recall that there was a blind man and the disciples asked if this blindness were caused by the misdeeds of the parents. This reflects the OT explanation of deformity and disability. Christ replies: “Joh:9:3: Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

Here we see that Christ accepts that the misdeeds of parents do cause deformity and disability but adds a further reason – It is an advertisement for God’s Powers.

Now, we must move on to how this affects suicide.

    1. If the cause of the blindness were the parent’s misdeeds – then this is a message from God that we should obey Him, otherwise our children will suffer.
    2. If the cause of blindness were a demonstration of God’s Power, then the blindness is God’s Work, and should be praised.

However, if that blind man committed suicide, can you see what the effect would be? Well, no, you’re a damn Catholic and have no idea at all about Christianity! So I will tell you.

In the first instance, the parents are released from guilt, and this is then permission to do what you want!

The second instance is the equivalent of defacing God’s Billboard; destroying a Work of God; preventing God’s Message from being broadcast.

Both are sins for they go against God.

Hence suicide is a sin and is forbidden. Your life is there for a reason - The reason is God's - you do not try to defeat God's Reason.

Now go away - have you no relics to sell or idols to worship?
