  • Silence - Apostasy scene

    Hello!

If you have seen silence, there is an scene where a priest commit apostasy to save five christians.

The way I see it, the priest did an act without any form of egoism, and that is the true love Jesus tried to taught us.

Other people, fundamentalist in my opinion, thinks is not right to commit apostasy to save people. Because the first commandment and stuff like that (sure, christians hasn´t killed in the past).

In the scene, Jesus talks to the priest saying "step on me". The priest had to step in a Jesus image.

What do you think about this?

Since Jesus was NOT the Messiah, I have no problems at all with this scene. Born lazy and with poor timing, albeit with amazing oratory skills, Jesus would have done well to listen to the Jewish people's urging him to take a chill pill and stop trying to be the egotistical center of attention all the time. He might have lived a longer life had he listened to us.

I think we should be careful when labeling things as apostasy. Often, what we are witnessing is just a sincere act of following an individual belief system, trying to coexist in a world where people damn that which they do not understand.

    Shalom,

I grew up Catholic and left that abominable cult as soon as I saw the Truth™. That a priest would freak out over insulting his little idol is no more bothersome than a Hindu freaking out over a burger. The point is, I don't care what sin sinners commit, and neither does Jesus (the real one, not the son of the Pagan Marian goddess the Catholics drool all over). All sin is equal in the eyes of the LORD, from the lowly snide gossipy comment to the wet dream to serial killings and cannibalism, all of which can be forgiven. The only exception of course is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost (Mark 3:29). He will not forgive that one, so don't piss Him off, whatever you do. The only recourse is faith, and your little story doesn't show how faith works. I can't understand for the life of me why anyone would watch it.
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Silence is not something that you could see, dear. Silence is perceived with ears/hearing, not eyes/seeing.

          I hope that was helpful.

What about the image? All engraved, cast, carved from wood or ivory or stone or metal images are the most detestable objects. God doesn't care whether you walk on them or sell them or use them in a cinema does He.

            No.

He doesn't. He wants them destroyed. But even in your newfound zeal you missed this glaring thing? What you are attempting here amounts to anarcho-syndicalism where you have stepped outside the restrictions of having to do God's bidding preferring some creative endeavour of your own. But having stepped beyond, by whom are His commands transmitted?

You may think you're independent yet still claim that true knowledge has not been effectively distributed, as according to some paradigm you haven't shared with us it ought to be, resulting in our ignorance. Implicit then is your desire to retain the enlightened status of your minority group. Poor gormless fools (us) would lie outside your structure needing corrections, such as in your post, which is hardly in keeping with overturning autocratic structures is it. Therefore you are not seeking to overturn them but to reintroduce them.

We are aware however that you are not actually adopting a neutral stance.

You're dabbling in a dangerous game called ethics.

God doesn't leave room for ethics. Not once does the Bible say, "Figure it out for yourself." No, in fact it says, "I have all the answers."

So if the Bible says to not commit apostasy or to lie, that's exactly what it means.

You're going to have to make a choice someday. Either be a Christian or have secular ethics.

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Catholic Dunce, the first sentence of your post made no sense to me until I figured out "Silence" is the title of a stage play that you failed to capitalize.

Your laziness makes it hard to discern any meaning in your posts. Please do better next time. We're not psychics, and we can't magically figure out what you're saying if you don't communicate clearly.

I'm sorry you didn´t grasp at first, but I made some mistakes and at risk of showing myself like a complete idiot, I couldn´t figure out how to edit a post (but given the nature of this forum, I´m starting to suspect that deliberately the admin disabled the edition feature).
