My husband and I have been Christians are entire lives. We raise our children as such. Where we live, Detroit,Mi, we are unable to find a church that suits our believes. We firmly believe in a traditional marriage with the man being HOH. As we strengthen our beliefs we see how I haven't always lived up to our Christian values. I have become mouthy and been disobeying my husband. I have prayed for forgiveness. I need some guidance. My husband thought spanking would help. Any thoughts? Or ideas? I'm begging for help.

Hello dear, and welcome to our forums! Surely you have not believed in Christ your entire life. I do not believe that at eight days old, when you were still unaware how even to move your arms and legs, much less how you wished (much less had a conception of wishing to move your arms and legs with purpose), you had already given yourself over to Christ, knowing yourself to be a foul and despicable sinner. That knowledge naturally came later. Why don't you tell us how that knowledge came about. How did Jesus reach out to you in your ignorant and foolhardy ways and touch you in a way no man could?
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Hello and to our Godly forum a fellow Michigander!

Where we live, Detroit,Mi, we are unable to find a church that suits our believes.
I believe you. While there are as many churches in Detroit as there are liquor stores (both of them practically on every corner - basically the only surviving businesses in most areas of that used-to-be-a-city), most of them have strange pastors and even stranger attendees (some of these hats are just... weird). And then, you have so many churches that like this one on 8240 Grand River Avenue:

Dear, all of your answers are in the Bible:

1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

      Ephesians 5:24
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

It's so simple. All of us women are inferior creatures incapable of making rational decisions; hence, whatever your husband says or does is right. There will be some hellbound heathens who will try to tell you about your legal rights in face of domestic violence/abuse, but as a Christian woman you know better, right?

        Re: New

Yes Mary, I never thought of it that way. You're right. I should have said we were raised in a Christian household both our families were Christian. I am a sinner and unworthy. Although I went along with what I was told I think I was in my early late teens/early twenties I before I truly found Christ. I had become pregnant A few months after getting married. I lost the baby. I dug deep, read my bible. I knew it was 100% my fault and I was being punished. I am a sinner. I've tried so hard to stay obedient to god and my husband since then. But sometimes I lose my way. I need a firm guiding hand. I'm just wanting to be better. My husband tells me all the time that I'm not real smart and that's why I have a hard time listening. I think my husband is afraid of going to jail because of his job. Why does anybody have the right to get involved in somebody's marriage. My husband knows what's right in our marriage and we don't need the police involved.

I'm sorry I really don't know how to use this or who I'm replying to. Thank you for your help. Detroit is a hideous place. I agree on the hats. Have you found a church in Michigan?

There is a Quote button on the lower right under every post. You can click on that to reply to a single post. If you wish to reply to more than one post at once, click on the small button right to the Quote button (if you hover your mouse over it you should see "multi quote" message) on the messages you want to reply to, and then the regular Quote on the last one.

I wouldn't say Detroit is hideous. I personally find it quite fascinating. Scary, but fascinating. The best way to explore it is in your car with windows closed and doors locked.

I live in a nice, Christian, rural area of Mid-Michigan. Plenty of good churches here!
