I don’t go to church have a favorite bible verse and I haven’t found jesus.

I don’t feel entire comfortable being saved by a god who allowed slavery to go on for as long as it did and, arguably, allowed people to use his message to justify it.

Welcome, dear, and it's totally OK if you feel uncomfortable. In fact, God expects you to feel discomfort on Earth.

Don't be silly, dear. Everyone is a servant to something. Some people are servants to work, some are servants to social acceptance, some are servants to physical perfection, some are servants to wealth. We here at Landover Baptist Church are, like the Apostle Paul before us, Servants to Christ (Ephesians 6:6,Colossians 3:24,1 Peter 2:16)! Glory!

The thing is, you need to find out what you serve, and then denounce it, apologize to Jesus for not putting Him first in your life already, confess your sins, and accept Him as your Lord and Master! Then, when He has been invited into your heart and the Holy Ghost dwells within you, these passages will make difference sense and will no longer create a moral dilemma for you. You'll be happy to serve Christ and that's all you'll want to do!

Your fingers are typing one thing, but your presence here says something else. It is clear that subconsciously, you know that you need Jesus in your heart.

Here's the good news: yes you can repent, and you can become one of the very few elect who will laugh for eternity in Heaven while everybody else will be suffering in Hell.

Knowing that should make you feel better and you really should not worry about such nuisances as God-ordered genocides and oppression and such. God works in mysterious ways, after all.

Hi. You seem very concerned about servitude. It is not always appropriate, as you say, but sometimes there's no other way for God to get people's attention. For example when the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt is was a gross error on the part of Pharaoh to deny them privileges. God smote Egypt very thoroughly you will recall. But if they had not been in Egypt would they have made the journey to Mount Sinai to receive The Law? Or again, when they decided orgiastic cults were better than God would they have come to their senses without the Babylonian captivity?

Eventually, The Bible explains, these people were so inured to The Truth that God reduced their status to about intestinal worm level, destroyed their temple, ejected them from The Promised Land and made them an object of hissing and contempt.

That is what happens when people reject the Love of God. Some groups were so degenerate that God destroyed them altogether. Others were given a second chance. Imagine the descendants of Ham, genital viewer extraordinaire, had God treated them as they deserved. Africa would be either completely depopulated or filled with unmitigated savages having no opportunity to hear about Jesus. The savages are still there, of course, but some were spared and have now seen for themselves how much better a Christian society really is. They can even return to Africa with The Good News and in Liberia that process was actually started. Satan and the voodoo have interfered as much as possible and popes and nuns have much to answer for in that continent, but the seed has been sown and will certainly bear fruit. Romans 10:14-15 What's needed now is more Bibles for Liberia.

If you would like to contribute contact one of The Pastors at any time. One thing is certain, by whatever expedient is necessary God will cleanse Africa and very soon now Jesus will be returning so it's important to make them aware of God's Love and the consequences for turning Him down.
