    Hello

    Hello to all,

Thank you for allowing me to join and participate in your forum.

I am not Bishop Green or the fictional Bishop Greenleaf but I am very similar to the good Bishop who is a fictional character on Oprah's network "OWN"

I am a Seminary educated Pastor in the south and I came to know Christ at an early age after responding to an altar call and invitation in an evangelistic crusade.

I then went on to college and seminary to become a Methodist minister and later earned my doctorate from a Baptist Seminary.

I hope to enjoy good Christian fellowship among fellow believers in the chats that we enjoy here.

A couple of questions1) Why do you call yourself BG and then you say you are not BG? Don't you have a name?

      2) What do you think of masturbation? And what about the Dallas Cowboys?

Thanks a lot for your answers!

Hello. As Esther said, do tell us more about yourself. At the moment, it's all rather - er - generic, isn't it? And, as Brother Gonzalez has already asked, what exactly do you mean by saying this?

So you call yourself Bishop Green but then say you're not him (not that I've ever heard of him). Quite frankly, this is rather peculiar behavior.

Oooh - you are quite the scholar, then! Could you provide us with the title of your doctoral thesis, and maybe a link to it, please? I'm sure I speak for all my Brothers and Sisters in Christ when I say that we would be fascinated to read it!

          John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world that He gave us His only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Nice choice and a very warm to our friendly forum! May I ask, why did you take these verses out of their context?

So which Bible verse is my favorite, is usually answered by quoting a bible verse, so I guess any verse that anyone has as a favorite would then be considered "out of context"

Hi Bishop, you see, the thing is, that John 3:16-17 has a very different meaning when cited without John 3:18. People who stop reading at John 3:17 leave with the impression that God loves everybody, which is false. John 3:18 explains that in reality, God loves only those who accepted Jesus as their Savior. Everybody else is condemned to Hell. That includes little babies who die every day before they are able to grasp Jesus' sacrifice. That also includes billions of people who lived and died not knowing about Jesus, for example all of the Indians prior to 1492. That is a lot of people whom God chose to send to Hell.

That's why John 3:18 provides the proper context for John 3:16-17. God doesn't love everyone; He only loves a tiny portion of humanity that obeys Him.
