    My Introduction

    Hi All

I've been following you're forums for a few years but never really joined until now.

My name is Emmanuel, born in Venezuela but left at the age of 2 with my folks to come to South Africa (where I'm currently living)

I am a Roman Catholic (a doubtful catholic at that), I've been meaning to change churches but could never really decide which one is the true church of God.

So you could say I'm a fan of God and not his fan clubs.

I used to have a serious drug problem which thanks to the power of Jesus Christ I feel i have been saved.

My hobbies entail praying, reading the bible (KJV) and telling people about the word of God.

My purpose of joining this forum is to engage in fellowship and learn more about our Savior.

My favourite verses are the following:

    Romans 8:31

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Ephesians 3:20 King James Version (KJV)

20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.

John 3:16 King James Version (KJV)

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I hope and pray that I am well received here. Thank you.

    Re: My Introduction

Welcome! Your name is a bit much to type. I have a gardener by the same name, I call him Aman'.

Nothing makes me happier when a strong backed young man realizes the errors of his ways and comes to God. A man like you has a lot to be proud of. Though I hope you are not in that dreadful caravan. It is going to be such a shame to have our Black Hawk Helicopters practice fire on all the criminals.

So Aman, how many sons have you produced for God? Have you signed up for your Tithing schedule? Be sure to have it on the LBC approved form, notarized and include the last ten years 1040's.

Are you a mower, wacker or blower?

I look forward to seeing your beaming face in the parking lot as I drive to my reserved spot next to the Church.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Hi Emmanuel. I am sorry for the sad life you lead so far. I mean, being born in a shithole and moving to another one. But at least you did the right thing and did not invade the USA, which is something our kind tends to do, if you know what I mean.

I hope for you to find God, and the best way to find Him is in the Bible.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the TRUMP of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

Hello and a belated to our forums!
I am a Roman Catholic (a doubtful catholic at that), I've been meaning to change churches but could never really decide which one is the true church of God.
That is a fair question to ask. While it is a decision you will have to reach on your own, here is my advice: read the Holy Bible - all of it, not just a few nice-sounding verses - and then do a check-list to see if the churches you are thinking about really do follow the Holy Bible.

Here is an example of a few things to be put on the checklist:

        1) Does the church in question see women as inferior?
Yes: then they do follow the Bible (e.g. Ephesians 5:22-24)
No: then this church does not obey God and is on the path to eternal damnation.

        2) Does the church in question kneel and pray before any graven images?
Yes: then this church does not obey God and is on the path to eternal damnation (e.g., Exodus 20:4).
No: then they do follow the Bible.

        3) Does the church in question support slavery?
Yes: then they do follow the Bible (e.g. Leviticus 25:44-46, Titus 2:9-10).
No: then this church does not obey God and is on the path to eternal damnation.

        4) Does the church in question support God-approved genocide?
Yes: then they do follow the Bible (e.g. Deuteronomy 7:1-2).
No: then this church does not obey God and is on the path to eternal damnation.

Etc, etc. I hope you get the gist.

I used to have a serious drug problem which thanks to the power of Jesus Christ I feel i have been saved.
That's great! Do you have any ideas why would Jesus help you specifically, and not the millions of other people who are struggling with addictions?

My purpose of joining this forum is to engage in fellowship and learn more about our Savior.
Why would you want to trust what anyone else says? Read the Holy Bible - everything that we as humans can know about Jesus is there. Let me tell you: if more people read the Bible - really, really read all of it - there would be much less religious conflicts. That is because most people who claim to be Christians never actually read the whole thing, they just have their ideas about what the Bible should say - and surprise surprise, different people have different ideas.

John 3:16 King James Version (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Excellent choice indeed! Especially if you read it in context:

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Doesn't it make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, to know that people who were lucky to be born into Christian families, and therefore exposed to the Christian faith, are destined to go to Heaven, while all the other idiots who are born into non-Christian families, and are not taught that Jesus is the only way, are condemned basically from the moment they are conceived? It's so good to feel superior, isn't it?
God created fossils to test our faith.

Hi .. I'm very encouraged to see you've twigged that popes and cardinals do not represent The Truth.

Well done! I've never been to Venezuela but your new home is not completely heathen or communist (yet) and the Dutch Reformed over there at least avoid idols. Some areas I knew quite well are now overrun with savages but there are worse places to be such as Yemen or Syria. One of my friends keeps trying to get me up for a holiday in Kabul; there's a hotel there, free, just please spend some money in the nearby shops. So far I've declined. From what's been going on around Hillbrow my shopping appetite for exotic department stores or unusually perfumed boutiques is tempered by staying alive.
