    Hello!

My name is Phoenix. I'm an only child and was mainly raised by my grandparents, due to my parents always being "out of town" for reasons no one would tell me.

My grandparents did take me to a Methodist Church as a child, but grandpa developed Alzheimer's and could barely feed or dress himself, so grandma dedicated herself to taking care of him 24/7 until he passed away last year. Grandma passed barely a month later. It seems as though she'd forgotten to refill her prescriptions, since all 8 of her pill bottles we're empty. So sad that she neglected her own health like that, but she must've been so used to putting Grandpa before herself.

Anyhoo, other than the 2 funerals, I hadn't been to any religious service, although I do like to read the Bible from time to time. My favorite verse is Proverbs 12:2 "A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn."

I'm not quite sure what else to include in this post, so I suppose I'll end it there.

I'm so sorry, dear. Rest assured that your name is not your fault, assuming that it was given to you by your parents. You don't tell us where you live, but in most countries it is possible to change your name. Or I suppose you could just go by "Eden", though that is technically a place rather than a person.

Tell us, why are you here and what exactly can we do for you? Like Sister Basilissa, I can't wait to hear more!

        Re: Hello!

Welcome young lady. May I call you Penny? Phoenix sounds just wrong, like some injun garble or Jap crap.
You are fortunate not to be burdened with the elderly. sometimes, they simply refuse Gods Will, which never bodes well. If God wants a person to die, they need to die. Defying Him is a sure fire way to get sent to Hell.
You seem young enough to get your mind right and straighten up. Have you spoken to a Pastor about doing what you need to do to become Saved(c). LBC has some wonderful programs in the regard. Dedication and commitment is all that is needed to be able to wallow in a eternity of Bliss in Heaven.
How do you plan to provide Him with your service Penny?
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Hello Phoenix, and welcome to our friendly forums! It's a shame Satan won the battle for the souls of your grandparents (Bill and Hillary Clinton are Methodists, if that gives you any indication of how sinful that cult is), but nevertheless to God goes the Glory! I do hope you'll make more reasonable choices about your real estate in the after life.

Romans 13:1 is very clear in saying everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. You have no father, so to speak, and no grandfather anymore, now that he is the rag-doll sexual plaything of Lucifer. My dear, I would advise you to get thee married in haste, but only to a True Christian™ man who knows how to administer True Christian™ Domestic Discipline. What are you doing to secure your salvation (1 Timothy 2:15)?
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

              Re: Hello!

Hi .. Welcome to the forum. It's great to see you're reading Proverbs, one of the earliest Scriptures I read all the way through. Quite a good range is covered with God making sure we knew just how disgusting sin really is and therefore just how disgusting any creature born contaminated with sin appears to Him. No wonder He decided to kill everyone!

And it goes to show how deeply entrenched sin is. Knowing what the consequences were and having survived utter catastrophe, nevertheless sin remained and every baby continued to be born vile and disgusting to Him. Jesus provided a solution, allowing Himself to be murdered once and for all. Heathens will insinuate that if God was so great He could have impregnated Eve, waited for her to give birth and then murdered that. But heathens know nothing about reality. Jesus was to be born of David's line.
Luke 2:4-11 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem (because he was of the house and lineage of David) to be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

How could Jesus be born in the city of David if David had not yet reigned? This aspect of Salvation is often neglected at funerals and I understand that you may have confused feelings discussing that. Here is a lovely carol which I think you'll appreciate.

I'm sorry, I'm going to need a moment to collect myself. It's been so long since somebody bothered to read the rules and post a proper introduction, why, I was completely taken off guard!

Phoenix, thank you for not being a troll.

                  Re: Hello!

                  Hello, Miss Quinn.

May the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Pastor Ezekiel be with you now and always. I welcome you to the friendliest spot on the Interwebs. It may surprise you that a soon-to-be doctor of divinity would stoop to the ashes to greet you, but that's how the love of Jesus works, you see. Even the unimportant become important thanks to His Grace, which is sufficient for you. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

I am not fond of the Methodistical. I've found that not only the Clintons, but several hundred others across our land follow that antiquated and non-Bible-based cult. They think Christianity is as simple as a set program for worship and that's not how Jesus works. He wants us to worship Him in Spirit and Truth. (John 4:24)

I pray that you will become a member of the only church in the land that completely follows the Bible: the Baptist church. Others may beckon you, but only the Baptist church offers you salvation(R) guaranteed. Perhaps one day you'll find favor with the Dept. of Faith and the senior members and you will be a part of Landover Baptist Church. It is the ONE church that has found favor with God, His Son Jesus (who, by the way, is also God), the Holy Spirit (who, by the way, is also God). Glory!

You may rest assured that all your questions regarding the proper serving of the Lord will be found here in our forums. A search will usually lead you to the answers. If, however, your question requires a more personal answer, you will find no more supportive people than you will here anywhere in the world.

I have added you to my electronic prayer list. Just this morning I prayed for 902 people, some of whom aren't even around here any longer; the LORD remembers them, and will keep His Hand upon them.

As the songwriter said, "Wouldn't take nothing for my journey now, I gotta make it to Heaven somehow, though the devil tempts me and he tries to turn me around. He's offered everything that's got a name: all the wealth I want, worldly fame; if I could still I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now."

Your journey can begin today. Won't you ask Jesus to fill every hole and nook and cranny of your being?

Welcome, Miss Quinn. You seem to be searching for the family you have never had. We here could be your family. It would be good for you to discuss sin, especially your own, to build a relationship with those of us here.
