Hello to you all! I'm so grateful and happy to have joined this form (with my husband's permission). My name is Keziah Grace, or just Keziah if that is what you wish to call me. I am married to my God-fearing husband, William, and together God has blessed us with five children (Four sons: Thomas, Luke, Elijah and Michael. And one daughter, Joy). We are also expecting our next child quite soon! We live in the country near the Ohio-Indiana border here in the United States. We attend Fellowship Baptist Church in Portland, Indiana. I converted to my faith officially upon my engagement to my husband when I was 17. I grew up a Mennonite and desired a more Godly and way of life. He has been a guiding light to and the right way of living.

Oh, and howdy neighbor - I'm just one state north from you! How are fall colors in your area? Here up north the peak is over and the leaf-raking season has begun.

The colors are beautiful as God intended! My husband keeps our sons busy with the leaf raking and other outdoor duties required of them! Outdoor work is one of the many methods we have to raise our Soldiers of Christ! And manual labor is always good for the soul.

I note that you're a former Mennonite. You must be happy to be able to enjoy the luxury of electricity and access to a computer and internet now. Although, from the sound of your household activities, with raising five chiildren and expecting another, plus providing faithfully for your dear husband, I'd expect that your time on the computer is somewhat limited. It is indeed, just don't go overboard and don't slide back into your Mennonite ways.

I did a quick search and it seems to me that we do not have a single thread regarding the Mennonites! We do have some threads regarding the Amish, and I guess that somewhat covers the Mennonites who are, after all, Amish-Lite.

The hypocrisy of the Mennonites never ceases to amuse me, though. There are both Amish and Amish-Lite in my area, and while the former stick to what they believe and keep out of town, the Mennonites often venture to stores like Menards or Meijer, to buy stuff that was made by machines and/or by slave labor in China - and that doesn't seem to bother them. And to avoid being the circus in town in their buggies, they ask a non-Mennonite neighbor to drive them to town! Can you explain to me the mindset of a Mennonite? Is it: "Oh, it's totally fine for my neighbor to go to Hell, because I need him to drive me to Menards every couple of weeks!"

I thank you for your welcome, Isabella! I praise God everyday for the luxury that is electricity. My childhood home was ran via generator only so we could have functioning plumbing! My time is limited, but I typically check in throughout the day for brief moments when the cleaning is finished and the children are studying or doing chores. Then again, a woman's household work is never done so the moments never last! But I find happiness in my domestic duties as it is God's place for me.

It is a confusing way of life, my friend. One modern convienience is allowed while the next one is not, and so on. I would be chastized for looking at a tv in the store but my parents both had flip-cellular phones! I believe the goal of the Mennonites is to live exactly by Scripture and live "practically". So certain modern things were allowed because of the practicality, while others were not...I'm not sure if I am an expert anymore. I try to forget those days so I don't develop a fondness of my hypocritical upbringing.

I've never noticed phones, but I did notice that Mennonites who live in my area would almost fit into a 17th century Flemish School painting... except for the sneakers on their feet.

Hi .. Welcome to the forum. It's nice that you chose a verse from Corinthians, always very encouraging epistles what with the carryings on we see everywhere these days. I have never owned a television but do know what electricity is and have seen generators on campsites. Generally I'd have thought it best to keep them away from plumbing (such as—again on campsites—water tanks and the like) so don't understand why you'd need generators for plumbing?

There is something in I Corinthians 5:3-5 described as Deliverance Unto Satan For Destruction Of The Flesh; is this something observed by the Mennonites? The Bible explains this is so that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. In these last days that will be quite soon.

I am Trevor McGregor late of Tivoli Gardens in Kingston Jamaica which is my home and recently returned from the motherland where I went following my deportation from Babylon the last time I was here.
