You must agree that this was one of the dumbest mistakes of the Poles. Instead of allying themselves with the Turks, or at least staying neutral, they allied themselves with the Austro-Hungarian empire, only to be betrayed by them less than a 100 years later.

Not really, the ottomans were already declining by 1683. The real problem started 1648 with Cossack rebellion in the Ukraine that brought Russia in and then economic system that relied too heavily on serfs based agriculture— didn’t adapt well to issues in the late 17th and early 18th centuries with environmental pressures. So, it saw a terrible decline internally while its neighbors grew. Fredrick the great and the smelled the stench of death in the air for Poland and it was all over...

If you did, you shouldn't be so obsessed with uniting all workers of the world - among all of the dumb ideas that Marx conceived, that was certainly one of the dumbest.

Please try to explain how modern day Marxists are different in their treatment of Marx's writings from Christians in their treatment of the Bible.

Now, the True Difference™ is that the Bible is the work of God, Who by definition never makes errors. Marx, on the other hand, was a middle-class European man who never saw anything but capitalist Europe, which is why he was unable to think of a system that would truly be appealing to people of different cultural histories. Which is why all real-life applications of Marxism have failed. Period.

Actually, Marxist regimes have a good track record until Capitalists intervene. But, I am socialist not a Marxist and anarchy-syndicalist to boot. So, we want a bottom up non hierarchical formation of the economy and government...

Yes; I see where you're going wrong. You're confusing anarchism with anarchy. Perhaps if you addressed the Kievan Rus and their religious history you'd get nearer the mark. So far it's not a very good introduction. We hardly know what you think. But we do know about Engels and other scribblings—The Communist Manifesto, Mein Kampf, The Koran & suchlike—are largely irrelevant here.

The SPE was probably okay in its day (though Halle did most of the heavy lifting), and the Pisa Lectures are still worth a read, but he had badly lost the plot by the time of the Minimalist Program.

Oh, it is so depressing, isn't it, dear Sister Basilissa? Gracious me, what has happened to the delights of real music? What we really need to be listening to are the old hymns, the grand songs that glorify the Gospel of our beloved .
