Dear Elle, thank you for this initial post. Please note that I didn't call it your introductory post because you left out some of the key information that we ask for in our instructions to new visitors.


Please tell us which--if any--church you attend. Furthermore, we ask our newbies to list a favored Bible verse because this is primarily a Bible discussion site and it helps us to gauge whether or not you have come here in good faith. Finally, we really, Really want to know about how you came to know Jesus.


Now, bear in mind that if you don't know Jesus we won't automatically ban you or anything like that. If you stick around and behave respectfully, we are prepared to show you who Jesus really is. You can learn more about the Holy Bible here than you can in most churches around the world. This is a wonderful opportunity for you if you don't count yourself a Christian and a fearsome spiritual challenge if you do.


So, which is it Elle? Are you prepared to learn things that most people prefer to ignore? Landover Baptist is not for the faint of heart.

Thank you handmaiden. I.m a true believer in Christ and a born again (however struggling christian). I belong to a pentecostal church, where I have been raised. (apology for imperfect english?) Yes I want to learn the truth about how to be a good christian, and I share many or most of your opinions here about right and wrong in contradiction to how our society have become. It's hard to choose 1 spesific favourite bible verse but one could be: Romans 8 (whole chapter), also 2 corinthians 4, vers 16-18 from the new testament. From the old testament psalm 32 verse 8. Of course many more :-)

Hi; welcome to the forum. Those two verses go so well together, the unseen things we look at can only be discerned when guided by God's eye. Your view of society is a good example. No secular or humanist society can ever be good and it's not so much they way they've become, as the way they always were. So there's not much point a Christian worrying about society. Perhaps Adam would have developed a just society but he was not attracted by any of the companions God presented to him and God had to improvise an alternative. She hexed Adam into evil and I don't think 2 people by themselves constitute "society" which means from whenever enough people did exist for a society to emerge, the whole thing was immersed in sin. Utterly separated from God, it is impossible for any currently existing society to deteriorate because they all started off at minus infinity.

Jesus was in the world for a short time but was not of the world. He explains that even before He was tortured to death, He had ceased being in the world which seems unusual to us – but we can understand it when we see things through His eyes. Later on He was whipped savagely.

John 17:11-16 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Welcome Elle. I am curious about Norway. Do you often take the sauna? Is it easy to read the KJV Bible when they make the steam? Where do you put your Bible when you plunge into the icy cold water?

I've read your other comments in this thread, and I see that you have a Pentecostal background. My dear Daddy was a Pentecostal preacher. He was called Home to be with the many years ago, but I can still remember him preaching fervently — particularly when it was time to bring out the snakes.

Mark 16:17, 18:
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Didn't it use to be a part of Denmark (when Sweden was a part of Finland)? They don't seem to have fixed borders at all. What they need is Bibles.

Elle, I know that Norwegian Lutherans eat the same three white foods every meal, cod, potatoes and white bread. Is it the same with Pentecostals?

Do you want to become Norway's first born-again Christian? That is a great contest. Since 99 % of Norwegians are light haired and eyed, you would do our Lord and Savior a great honor. Come over to Kansas City and you will have a genuine change to become a True Christian™. I also was born outside of God's favorite country, on an Island near Austria in the godless pacific ocean, as a son of Scottish parents, therefore I do not know if I can make it to heaven.Therefore I do not know if you, but I see you got potential.
