We fortunately have a wide river between us and the English and a strong Baptist tradition to fall back on.

Les Merton is mistaken. The earth was created in 4004BC (A Tuesday in October if I recall correctly.)

I'm not sure that the emmits are the problem. I put it down to Radon gas and heavy metals in the water - bound to turn the weaker man.
