    Re: Kanguilla Hates Landover

"Yes everyone can say he or she is a Christian. This is why we talk about True Christians, who follow the Bible to the letter and false Christians who don't."

Yes, but since the bible is often vague and describes things using metaphors, it is open to interpretation. Who are you to say that your interpretation is correct?

"The saying is wrong. There is 1 true religion."

That statement is a paradox, as it is the religion itself that tells you this. The logic has not been verified by any outside sources.

"I do see some logic fallacies here, but those are in your reasoning."

Feel free to explain. I'm happy to debate.

By the way, just to clear up any false impressions, I'm not an aetheist. I'm a very mild Christian.

Be wary of false Kumbaya Christians who use a highlighter and scissors to read the Bible. God wants us to read the lines, not between the lines. False Christians will go to Hell:
      Matthew 7:22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

AHA, so when YOU are hateful, it's conscience and when WE are allegedly hateful, it's sadism? Starts with "H", rhymes with "ypocrite".
When he is hateful, he is defending lives and morales in a peaceful manner. Your ten commandments encourage unnecessary violence and hatred against other religions. That is the difference you fail to see.

So, are there marks or asterisks in the Bible showing which passages are metaphorical or "open to interpretation"? I've got my 1611 King James Bible open on the desk (as always) next to my computer and I'm not seeing those handy reference marks. Please explain for us how we can distinguish the passages that are "open to interpretation" from those that are to be taken literally so we can become as knowledgeable as you, Steve.

Try to contain your envy, Mr. Jeffery.

            (That was, of course, sarcasm.)

ALL passages in the bible are open to interpretation.

            ...Examples to follow.

You can twist any piece of text, the Bible is no different there. But if you really read it, it is all very clear and logical.

This church is dedicated to preaching True Christianity™ and the King James Bible exactly as they are, with no alterations to make them more politically correct for modern liberals. If you think that we've misquoted or twisted Scripture or quoted any verse out of context, please explain in detail how we've done so. Great, another atheist who tells Christians how to read the Bible

To people like you, even "1 + 1 = 2" is open to interpretation.

Steve, you described yourself as a "mild" Christian, so I suppose a Christian nonetheless in your mind, yet you refer to "Your ten commandments" as if they are not at all a part of your beliefs, such as they are. Please show us where and how The Ten Commandments encourage violence or hatred against other religions. Also explain how they are not a part of your beliefs if you described yourself as ANY kind of Christian. Are there parts of the Bible that you just can't embrace? How do you plan to explain to God that His Word strikes you as improvable?

The King James version 1611 is not vague at all. Some liberal Christians try to mistranslate the BIBLE to make it politically correct but we don't do that here at Landover Baptist. We take the BIBLE, the whole BIBLE, literally
