A Theological Love/Hate Relationship... in need of guidance..

I am going through severe psychological distress at the moment. I have been addicted/obsessed with Christianity since I was a young child and brought into it as most young children are, belts and blackmail. After God I turned to opiates and those gave me peace until a few hours ago when I ran out and started considering the possibly of there not being a God. I was a Christian for almost 20 years!!!!!!! and yet I have begun to question the existence of God in the most blasphemous ways! I believe that my only chance of salvation is to wholly divulge these evil secrets that my mind has been holding. The truth shall set you free! So here is a rant I wrote a bit earlier that I was going to edit, but decided not to as I want to believe again and the only way to do so is address these sinful thoughts is to present them in full to fellow Christians and ask for repentance. So... here is what I wrote.

I get it. Being American, you do run into the fat, stupid and bigoted quite often. You know what's even worse though? Running into those arrogant jerks that walk around telling people what everybody with half a brain already knows or at least suspects. Do you guys get off on telling children that the Easter Bunny isn't real or Santa Claus is just a fat drunk in a red suit? Wow... you guys must be really clever to have figured out those societal mysteries. It doesn't take an idiot to argue with a strawman, but idiots usually do. No one believes any of this crap, and the ones that do (to the extent that you all preach) probably have some mental illness or don't have the natural capacity to think too deeply. Yet, you make fun of these people, and probably with some delusional, self-gratifying belief that you are exposing the true nature of religion to the common person. No one thinks the earth is flat. No sane Christians believe that, even the dumb ones. No sane PEOPLE believe that. For someone to mock religion by acting like this is some common christian belief is just foolish. Whenever an actual christian comes on this site they disagree with everything you say, what does that tell you? Who are the idiots? I say the idiots are the people who act idiotic. Congratulations to all of you who take part in this on being True Idiots. It is funny though...

I like to think that believing anything to be true with 100% certainty is just as foolish as denying it completely. Same wackos on both sides trying to slander the other with the same kind of perversion, exaggeration, and total ignorance of what the other side actually believes. MAYBE all this stuff is just a moral guide for people that don't know any better? MAYBE when I go to the library and check out a book I'm not looking for the meaning of words written on a page but the meaning behind them, and maybe even if those books are full of crap... even if those books are really outdated and all the facts are completely wrong... MAYBE I can still find some good messages in that book. Perhaps some of the messages will be very strange and seem ridiculous, but as a rational human being (like most Christians, or members of any religion) I will easily identify such nonsense and instead hold onto the positive messages. You aren't getting winning over any converters with this stuff. It's not that funny once you get the joke... ha nah

Re: A Theological Love/Hate Relationship... in need of guidance..

I didn't manage to finish reading your post, as you weren't making much sense there. Could you please just introduce yourself, and enlighten us about the technical details later? Please tell us your name, your church, your Pastor, your favorite Bible Verse, how you achieved/why you didn't achieve yet Salvation(tm), that kind of stuff. Thank you.
    Sweet Lord Jesus,
I want to pray for those who persecute me, my Lord.
Please, treat their children as you treated those of Egypt, when they upset you! (Psalm 135:8-9)
Dash their little children against the stones for their fathers iniquity! (Psalm 137:8-9)
Hit them on the cheek, and smash out their teeth! (Psalm 3:7)
Make their death and descent into Hell swift and terrible! (Psalm 55:15)
Scatter their broken bodies over the streets of their evil cities, like Benghazi, Amsterdam, Tokyo and Mecca! (Psalm 110:6)
    Praised be Your Glorious Name™.

    Amen.

      TL;DR

So have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal LORD and Savior?
      II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. At least you admit to cherry picking pieces and parts from the Bible. Too bad you can't admit that you're going to hell for doing it.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Sorry if you couldn't understand my post. Yes the second part is a bit "out there" but that's the gist of the conflict of faith I am having. Maybe it was all the HATE on this site that spawned my distrust or perhaps confusion over my faith. My name is Tim and I don't have a job. I love off SSI at the moment . I have been going to the Greater Boston Baptist Church for several years but my favorite Pastor (well, maybe not a Pastor but a youth minister or something) was a man named George Byrne. He was a cripple and even though I was suffering from a heavy drug addiction at the time and often stole from him for drug money and whores, he was able to renew my childhood faith in God after a couple years of private counseling and my participation in several out-of-country community building projects, such as building homes, setting up water distribution centers, and the like. My favorite bible story is that of Genesis... think we all know that one. Ummm.. ah and salvation. Well I was baptized at 2 and was a faithful believer until the last few months during which I have stopped attending church and my mind has been filled with what I once saw as heretical blasphemy... that's where I am now

I once knew a man who was addicted to cocaine. He was convinced that if he didn't stay home and watch televangelists as well as donate money to them, that he would go back to using. I hope you aren't in a similar situation.

My most sincere thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Stop being lazy! God does not like that. Proverbs 12:24 "The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor."

Friend, we do not hate. We are filled with abundant True Christian Love™, which is often mistaken for hatred and mean-spiritedness by those who wallow in sin.

If we hated you or anyone else, we would just keep His Word to ourselves, assured of our place in Heaven. It is because we love you and other unsaved trash that we reprove your false doctrine, rebuke you for your transgressions, and exhort you to accept Jesus' gift of eternal life, freely given, to those who would seek His face and walk with Him.

We glorify Him by following His every word, as given in the Holy Bible (KJV 1611). This can be a bitter pill to swallow for some, which is why our pure Christian love is so often misunderstood. We want you to join us in Heaven, friend, because we love you.

Re: A Theological Love/Hate Relationship... in need of guidance..

Welcome friend, I for one am very glad you stopped by our friendly forum. I like you and I think, given a chance, Jesus would too. Have you considered making Him your personal savior? Perhaps I can recommend a good book for you to read, available most anywhere. It is called the KJV1611 Bible. There are many wonderful stories and anecdotes in it that you will find very useful in this modern hectic life.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Re: A Theological Love/Hate Relationship... in need of guidance..

Thank you for the kind welcome by most of you And for the prayers sent out by Brother Levi, but I'm still in a state of confusion. I guess it's difficult to tell someone how to recapture their faith... reading the bible, eh yeah I've done that already. Read it once (with the class) during my Confirmation years, but that hardly counted and I reread it several years ago front to back. There's a million passages I could turn to in times like this, and I have before, but it's just not doing it for me these days. I suffer from depression (due to bipolar disorder) that can last quite a long time, but it's gotten to the point where it doesn't bother me quite so much though it really does. I guess it's predictable since I've had a few cycles of being sad for a year, happy/normal for a year and so on. I thought I was in an upswing a few months ago after I tried to kill myself via ODing on booze and aloto pills n' stuff. Turns on I just blacked out, woke up the next day feeling AMAZING and for the next 6-7 days (still feeling amazing..)I got maybe 8 hours of sleep. I was only able to sleep for a couple hourrs after much effort every couples days. Very weird but the OD seemed to launch me into a manic phase follow by just "normal," which should last at least 6 months or so but for the past couple months I've been getting sad again and the bible just isn't helping... I know in my heart it should, but my mind just isn't buying it anymore.

P.s. I am NOT a satanist (just having a conflict of faith, there's a difference). Also, I'm white you racist butthead though that's neither something to be proud or ashamed of. It's simply my skin tone and a few others genetic whatevers. Irish baby, God blessed us with the best livers And cranky old man, yes I badly need a job but my mental state can be very anguishing at times and despite the longevity of my general states which last for months, I can fluctuate quite a bit daily. Stability is not my thing.

P.S.S. I play chess and study it all the time. I'm at about 1900 uscf, and I always end up asking everyone I meet so if any of you enjoy the game and would like to join me in a friendly game just send me a PM I'd love to play you on yahoo games (I'm 1750 there), always hanging out at the advanced lounge 2. PM me and I'll give you directions... ok heads kind of foggy. I forgot to mention that I didn't really get much usable advice, but the support is nice and maybe that's all we need.... Peace out.

                        Brother Gerb

Try putting it into action, sinner. Are you a butt-pirate too? It sounds like you just loaf around all day, leeching off the government and hard-working Christians like myself, so you can go trolling around on the internet and disturbing our Godly forum. Is this an accurate perception?

You don't want his prayers. He is a disgusting human being. Read his signature. He thinks Macintosh computers are the exclusive domain of homosexuals, for crying out loud.

Read it once (with the class) during my Confirmation years, but that hardly counted and I reread it several years ago front to back.
You're having problems with belief after reading the Bible? Shocking, truly shocking. I believe it is important to read the parts that are relevant to you and disregard the parts that aren't pretty.

I recommend a spiritual journey. Read philosophy. Read poetry. Read other religious texts. It sounds like you have already, but do more of it.

Very weird but the OD seemed to launch me into a manic phase follow by just "normal," which should last at least 6 months or so but for the past couple months ...
The condition runs in my family and I have some friends who suffer from bipolar disorder. You need to be medicated and you know it. You, no doubt, hate the meds because they make you feel not yourself. Paxil can be horrible because you feel less than a man when you're on it.

You have probably played the game with your manic phase. You'll stop taking your meds and go crazy and be the party guy extravert. When you feel the crash coming on, you'll try to go back on them and then you will live with crippling depression for a week or two until you can balance back out.

It is a dangerous game you play and you know it.

Work on yourself first. Then worry about what the Bible says.
