    I guess I'll start here...

Hello. My name is Angelique Gabriella Combs. I'm 20-years-old (almost 21).
From reading numerous other intro threads, I'm gonna assume that you'd wanna hear about my church, favorite Bible passage, etc...
    So...

    (1) I don't currently attend a church, since I just moved here from LA about a week ago. I live about 5 miles from the nearest business and I still don't have a car!
    (2) My favorite Bible passage(s) would have to be either 1 Samuel 18:1-4 or Psalm 140 and 145-150.
    (3) I came to find Jesus when I was going through some old boxes of my mother's (for Spring cleaning) during my senior year of high school and I found an old Bible. It had gold edging around the pages, a silk ribbon bookmark, and a photograph of 2 children stuck in between the pages. (My mom said the photo was of her and her younger brother who she hasn't seen since before I was born.)
Anyway, I started reading it (I've always been attracted to the Book of Psalms for some reason) and I started to cry. I loved it! I prayed right then and there and my spirit was lifted up.
I had asked my mother why she'd never taken me to church, since it was obvious from the other things I found, her life revolved around church. She'd said that it was because of something that happened in her family that made her lose her faith, though she would never elaborate on what or why. She told me that if I wanted to believe, then it would be my decision, though I should be careful about whom I trust in "that world".

I forget what other questions I'm supposed to answer in this post... Oh, well.

    I guess I'll talk to ya'll later!
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous. ~~1 PETER 3:8

Re: I guess I'll start here...

Hello Angelique Gabriella, I am sorry to hear about you mothers negative experience in the family that influenced her feelings towards religion. Whether or not a person feels faith and or is involved in an organized religion should be based on rational critical, thinking and not an "experience in the family". Faith or the lack of, based on the probability that the world view is correct combined with a sense of what is right should be the determining factor for which side of the fence to walk on. An event that causes a person to chose an outlook should not negate the need for a comprehensive deep understanding of what is right. Anything less than a 100% effort in a search for the truth will leave a person on the fence.
Fat people please stop eating so much. I'm getting tired of looking at you.

It's great to see so many wonderful replies!
                    Let's see, where to begin?

                    (1) I'm not married (yet), but I am engaged to a wonderful man. We plan (with prayer) on being married by the end of next summer. (We were gonna be married by the beginning of April, but he was called back overseas and won't be back until the end of July). His family actually owns the the house I'm staying in, since my mother still lives in California.
                    (2) My father, though he has been very caring and able to provide for my family, is actually an athiest who thinks religion is good for nothing more than excuses and providing a dramatic backdrop for weddings, funerals, etc.... He's happy that I'm getting married... but not so thrilled that I believe in Jesus.

Thank you all for the warm and happy welcomes!
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous. ~~1 PETER 3:8
