Get a dictionary. The misuse of a word does not make that misuse a correct definition. You don't get to redefine words as you please.

The broader, and more common, understanding of atheism among atheists is quite simply "not believing in any gods." No claims or denials are made — an atheist is just a person who does not happen to be a theist.

Sometimes this broader understanding is called "weak" or "implicit" atheism. Most good, complete dictionaries readily support this.
There also exists a narrower sort of atheism, sometimes called "strong" or "explicit" atheism. With this type, the atheist explicitly denies the existence of any gods — making a strong claim which will deserve support at some point. Some atheists do this and others may do this with regards to certain specific gods but not with others. Thus, a person may lack belief in one god, but deny the existence of another god.
    FreeDictionary:
    ag·nos·tic (g-nstk)
    n. 1. a. One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.
Different from atheists, agnostics doubt the existence of God or gods.

    n.
    • The doctrine that certainty about first principles or absolute truth is unattainable and that only perceptual phenomena are objects of exact knowledge.
    • The belief that there can be no proof either that God exists or that God does not exist.
You don't have to agree to what I think about religion, but don't say that im wrong because you have a bible up your ass.

You are wrong because the Bible is right, and you are arguing against it. Therefore, Christianity says, and God says, you are wrong.

I can see you want this piece of shit thread to continue because it's a saturday and you don't have to go rape some little boys in the back of a church 'till tomorrow, so by all means, keep adding to this thread till you're happy.

Thanks for showing us more of your typical left-wing tolerance, class, and intellect.

Wow, calm down. I guess you skipped over my comment a few posts back. I used to read the bible when I was younger because my mom was trying to force me into religion. No, the bible is not proof; it's a book. If hell comes to earth and demons start dragging people off to the abyss, then I'll start believing, even if it's too late.

No. Your neighbor is informing you of the consequences of your choices. That's what we are doing.

You call her out, saying that she's going to hell for her sins. Her sin is simply being different. You know what will actually happen here? YOU will burn in the fiery pits of hell because you're not accepting another human being.

See above "neighbor - drunk driving" analogy. Would your neighbor go to jail for warning you that the consequence of your decision to drink and drive is jailtime? No.

Regardless of race, gender, and sexual preferences, she is still a human. Her decision to fall in love with either gender is not a sin, nor will it effect your life.

Do you know what a "sin" is?

A sin is anything GOD says is wrong. GOD. Not YOU. GOD.

YOU do not get to determine what is right or wrong. GOD does, and He has already done so and laid it out for us, in the Bible. Maybe you should try reading it before telling us what it says.

That doesn't make you much of an atheist, now does it?

    Certainly not hardcore. Tardcore, perhaps.

It makes you, in fact, a Deist.

Do you not even know the difference between an atheist (who does not believe that there is adequate evidence to demonstrate the existence of a god) and a Deist (who believes there is a god of some sort but that we do not understand its nature)?

A Deist, by definition, is not atheist, hardcore or otherwise.

It's written in black and white. Ever actually read it? There is only one side, God's side.

For you to deny someone's right to love another human being.. Don't you think that your actions are that of a savage beast?

As I've already stated, we're not denying any of her rights, just explaining the consequences of her choices.

I would say her actions, submitting to animal lusts instead of to God, are those of a beast. Uncivilized, depraved, degenerate, and hedonistic.

And I never said that you said that the Bible sucked (oh, dear, that was distasteful.)

What I have written here, is that I doubt that you have read it closely. Because, given what I can glean of your world view, the following statement . . .
There's a few good stories in there, I've already said that. But everyone's taste is different. I simply see it as another story book, not something to live by.
Seems somewhat lacking in forcefulness. And if you are comfortable with acknowledging that everyone's taste is different, why can you not extend the courtesy of such acceptance to the ideas expressed on this site?

Instead of granting us the right to disagree with you and being on your way, you have engaged us with non-arguments and commented upon our characters, while complaining loudly about any comments made upon your own character.

Case in point being this little gem below . . .

Also, incest doesn't interest me much, but seeing as you're choosing a few keywords that are meant to intrigue, I'm going to presume you enjoy it greatly ^^
This attempt to be clever and suggest that I enjoy incest falls flat. I also mentioned murder and mayhem, are you going to suggest that I enjoy those as well?

My intention in choosing those keywords was to see if you had the slightest idea of what sorts of stories are actually in the Bible. But then, you have stated repeatedly that you prefer children's tales about frogs and enchanted apples.

No doubt, some of the complex moral concerns detailed in the Bible are more than you wish to contemplate.

Furthermore, my dear, while I would not be so coarse as to suggest that you enjoyed incest, I should point out that you described yourself as bi-sexual, then pan-sexual and finally omni-sexual. Whatever that final label means, it certainly means a great deal to you -- so much so that you have made repeated assertions regarding this on a website forum where you have learned by now, such pronouncements will not be met with applause.

Forgive me, but I must return to my earlier deduction that you enjoy the shock value of your announcements. In which case, being told that you are sinful and hellbound pleases you, as it allows you to feel superior and enlightened and perhaps . . . just a bit persecuted?

What else would I expect from someone from the Southern States of the U.S.A?

And sorry, I just noticed HandMaiden sounded a little dirty ^^
I seem to recall that someone somewhere made a comment about making generalizations and how that was a bad thing . . .

Do enjoy your feeling of righteous indignation. It is an excellent cover up for the fact that you are on a Bible discussion website and you have contributed no discussion of the Bible at all.

Oh, Mr. Hardcore Atheist, how is you manage to be so correct and yet sound so uninformed?

Reading the Bible does NOT make me ladylike, quite so. My behavior and demeanor as displayed in my writing are what identify me as a lady.

Please recall, that no one "called out" the young lady, in that we did not show up outside her home with a bullhorn and start shouting out our beliefs to her.

She came here and threw her Biblically irregular sexual orientation at us, using the word, "bitches" while she was at it. Being as we exist to provide a Biblically appropriate response to this, it was pointed out to the young lady that GOD will send her to hell-- at least that is what He tells us in the Bible. We try not to question Him, being rather fond of our own unseared skin as we are.

I note that you rather boldly claim, in clamourous colour, I might add, that it is I who will go to hell for my sin of pointing out that God will send her to hell for her sins. All while identifying yourself as a committed atheist.

Tell me, did you obtain the red colour for your post from the crayon that you had previously stuck up your nose?

Once again, you are correct in your assertion that the young lady's sexual orientation has no effect on my life. Indeed. I could have gone my entire life without ever hearing about her "omnisexualism" and been no worse off for the lack.

And when she gets tired of playing her little "shock the Bible thumpers" game, I will continue on my merry way with nary a thought to her and her unusual sexual persuation.

However, while I am perfectly willing to let the matter drop, according to the Bible, God is not. As an atheist, I cannot imagine that will concern you.

Let us, therefore, withdraw from the field of speculation. If the young lady, or yourself, for that matter, wishes to be informed regarding the Biblical perspective on any subject, we are more than happy to oblige.

After all, that is why we are here.

    Eversocorrectly Yours,

    Handmaiden

My mother is Catholic, and tried to drill the idea of God into my head by taking me to church and make me pray to a supernatural being that I didn't fully understand.

One day, when I was 8 years old, I asked my mom "Why do I have to believe what everyone else is believing? Am I allowed to think my own way without the guide of a book?" and she replied by slapping me across the face and calling me a demon child. Since then I refused to believe the bible. I'm not truely atheist, but I'm definately not catholic or christian.

I guess you did not read some of the racism said earlier by your bretheren; mocking the country that the girl lives in because she is bisexual.

My main reason for writing on this thread is because I find it wrong that everyone is calling her a sinner, when all she did was love humans for who they are, not for their gender.
