Yeah, she was talking about giving money to the Church for Godly reasons. By the way, do you know the story that comes from? This lines up with

1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

In the story that you forgot to add to that quote, Jesus challenged a rich man to give up his money and the man decided to give up Jesus instead. Don't you think that would disappoint you? There are many quotes that tell us that if we follow God he will richly reward us, so why should we spit in his eye? We tithe/gift around 30%, I think that's average for our church. Yet we end up with many unsaved trash that come here and try and tell us that tithing is evil. It's a sad twisted world.
