You think that public law should allow for stoning? I must say, even as someone who believes 100% of the Bible, this strikes me as a bit extreme (at first). But, I know it is not my place to question men, especially white men in good standing with the Lord, so all of my sinful hesitation aside, I must say that I completely agree!

Lord, forgive me for questioning those who obviously speak Your word. Not even I am immune to Satan's persuasion towards this wicked world, although I nip him in the bud those rare times he dares rear his ugly devil head at me!

I know the Bible calls for stoning, but the idea applied to modern day life initially struck me as too gruesome. I know these feelings were a result of my exposure to a Satan-sensitized society, and I repent of my ungodly cowardice.

One question, though. Are we allowed to try to bring the sinners to Jesus before stoning them? Jonah 3:10 clearly shows that God is willing to forgive if the sinners repent. Are we allowed to give the sinners a chance to repent, if they perhaps have not been enlightened to the Lord in their lifetime, before stoning them?

I like the story of Jonah. After he lives in the belly of the fish for three days, God allows Nineveh the chance to repent.

I suppose it depends on the crime committed, wouldn't you agree? The Bible says that the daughter of a priest who fornicates must be set on fire for she has played the harlot in her father's house.

Leviticus 21:9 And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

That particular girl was prewarned it would happen. How can we avoid what the Bible tells us? I suppose we could allow them the opportunity to pray and hope God listens to their supplications before we execute them. That would be similar to the situation we have today, but it would cover more sins than our current system.

We try to warn places like Sweden, Denmark, France and etc. to get God to avoid that fate, much like you mentioned in Jonah 3.

Very good point. I was worried about people who haven't had the chance to read the Bible, but in this world of information, everybody has a chance! Everybody knows about the Bible, so if they choose not to read it they're ignoring the Lord's divine calling. Even current secular law proclaims that ignorance of the law is no excuse for wrongdoing. Certainly God's law can be held to that same standard!
