    Hello

    This is my introduction.

I have to say, I feel so blessed to be here. I feel like God has guided me by directing my internet search to this forum site.

The Church I go to is Queen's Park Baptist Church. The services there are so moving, it's almost as if God Himself is speaking through the pastor.

My favourite verse has to be John 3:16. It may be the obvious choice, but it just fills me so full of faith, and love for God, that he sacrificed his own son...

I found Jesus when I was hit by a bus. My spine broke but, by the kindness of God, no lasting damage was done. I'm thankful for that every day, and I say so in my prayers.

    Re: Hello

    GLORY!

Let's all continue to praise God for saving us and burning all sinners who don't believe.

17*For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18*He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19*And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20*For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21*But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

It's a marvellous thing to behold the love of God. It must make your heart swell with joy to know that while your mobility was remarkably saved by God other less worthy sinners were smitten with being cripples because of their failure to love Him.

John 5:46,47 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Thank you for the warm welcome, brother. For are we all not brothers, under the one true God and his glorious Son?

Hebrews 13:1 Let brotherly love continue

        Re: Hello

        Ah Hebrews... Joyous stuff!

I particularly like the way it is previously set out who is righteous and who is not

        Hebrews 12

1*Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2*Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3*For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. 4*Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. 5*And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6*For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7*If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8*But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

It's wonderful to see that God is smart enough to see that all people are not the same. We are not brothers unless we are one with Christ in all ways. I sense you are one who loves the Lord in return.

25*See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: 26*Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

28*Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29*For our God is a consuming fire.

        Glory!

          Glory!

I fear, as I am relatively new to Baptism, I do not have the depth of knowledge more experienced practitioners of the Faith have. However, I am sure God will help me in my quest to live as he wills through learning Bible passages.

          2 John 1:9

This shows, as I'm sure you're aware, that it must be all of our Holy Mission to learn the Bible ourselves, and spread It's Holy, immortal word to others.

            Hello!

I must admit, when I first saw that you picked John 3:16 as your favorite verse, I was a little concerned. Many people feel that it is some blanket amnesty program because they interpret is as saying EVERYONE is going to Heaven.

Taken in context, both within the verse and within the chapter (as Brother Redeemed so eloquently illustrated) we can see that isn't quite the case.

But for a newcomer to focus on the sacrifice part of it is really quite remarkable.

            What's your name, friend?

            Yours in Christ,

              Re: Hello

My name is Mark. I must admit, my parents didn't name me after the Apostle. God must have influenced their decision. Before the accident (that wording isn't strictly correct, as I believe it was part of God's divine plan) I must admit to being agnostic, as were my parents.

However, after the Event (I believe that to be a more fitting term) I went to Church and my parents accompanied me. The sermon was so moving, all of our eyes were opened to his Divine light.

              Glory!

He is a child of God, and so Jesus has counted every hair on his head, and loves him even more than a bunch of sparrows, for some reason. You humanists are so cold and hateful.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

While John 3:16 is a glorious verse of Scripture, it is even better in context. It always makes me feel special to know that God has preordained me to stand among His elect, while so many others will suffer the unfathomable torments of eternal hellfire.

In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J.
